I play a mix of styles, singing and playing an acoustic guitar. Drawing on blues and folk material initially, I have also been a working musician banging out the standard staple diet of popular songs needed when playing bars and in the after-ski scenes of Europe. More recently I have been getting my teeth back into my own music using open tunings, and experimenting with looping delay pedals to create a larger sound. While the technology lets things get interesting I am still a believer that it all has to be produced on the stage with nothing pre recorded….it makes for an entertaining time and no 2 gigs are the same..."

Born and raised in Dunedin on the East coast of the South Island of New Zealand. Now shares his time between Wanaka (NZ), and Åre (Sweden) hiding from the summer sun. ..

Began playing Bass with his brothers band 'The Proles', then joined Dunedin's Blues outfit 'White Hot and Blue' (formerly 'The Mudflat Houserockers'). Traveled to the US in the early 90's and met Larry Reeve in Colorado who became a great friend and teacher of the blues.

Continuing the seasonal migration, following the snow between New Zealand and Northern Hemisphere winters, He has been playing Solo, and in Duos for the last 10 years.

HOST YOUR OWN HOUSE CONCERT!

HOUSE CONCERTS - are a perfect way to enjoy professional live music in the comfort of your own home surrounded by good friends and family. You don't need to rent a hall or anything flash, the concert can be held in any room large enough to accommodate your desired number of guests, or even outside on a patio/deck or in your backyard. There are NO UP-FRONT COSTS for the host, and you will receive Gordon Smith CD's as a thank-you for hosting the concert.

Here's how it works - Plan a house concert the same way you would any other party. It can be as simple or elaborate as you like, from a wine and cheese evening to an afternoon picnic.

Contact your friends about the concert. Typically, each guest is asked to contribute about $15 (depending on the number of guests) to the musician. Suggest they visit this website to listen to our music.
Concerts last between 1-1/2 and 2 hours, with a break in the middle - which is a great time to serve refreshments and socialise.
