About Twenty Paces - Looking for a New Guitarist - Help
Anyone who has been around music for any number of years understands that growth and evolution are a natural path to progression. Band's styles adapt to an ever growing list of influences sometimes taking such a turn that the band that started the progression completely morphs into something unlike its original intention. Such is the case with Minneapolis-based instrumental doom project Twenty Paces.
The band originally began in LaCrosse as a punk band which evolved into a metal savvy heavy rock group. Over the last year the group, while going through some member changes opted to go in a unforseen direction. Bands like stylist counterparts Isis, Pelican, and This Will Destroy You, guitarists Andrew Nostch and Paul Marshall and drummer Andrew Swift took time in 2008 to write would be their most impressive music to date. Bassist David Clapp, a recent Addition, joined the band in summer 2008.
The four song opus Cassini is a mega leap forward in style, musicality, orginality and progression. Although the short tracklisting, this is not a short listen. Its an astounding 35 plus minute journey into the pysche, filled with dark, looming textures of well orchestrated and matured Ambience.
