Hello All
As most of you know I have been working with Greater Los Angeles Save Darfur to produce Songs For Darfur to help with raising awareness and aid for those from Darfur Sudan where 400,000 have died and 2.5 million have become refugees. With this event we hope to raise funds to build a secondary school in the refugee camp, Kounoungo. The more people that we get to come to the event, the greater chance we have at reaching our goals. Please consider forwarding our e-mailable flyer to your e-mail list and/or printing our other flyer and distributing around your area. Any help with getting the word out would be greatly appreciated. Event details posted below.
Thank you,
Karine

EVENT DETAILS
As part of our varied efforts to bring awareness and relief to the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Greater Los Angeles Save Darfur has united with Stop Genocide Now to present Songs For Darfur, a day of music with a purpose.

--Two stages featuring live world music by artists such as Rocky Dawuni, MC RAI with Baladi Bellydance Troop, Jahmark and the Soulshakers, Thong Jieng, Yeh Dede, Suzanne Teng, Masanga Marimbe Ensemble, Roothub, and special guests. Jeremy Sole spinning between sets and DJ Osamu at the indoor stage.

--Featuring guest speakers that include refugees from the frontlines of Darfur, celebrity activists, and heads of our partner organizations which include the Save Darfur Coalition, Stop Genocide Now, Sudan Divestment Task Force, Jewish World Watch, Axis of Justice, Heal Darfur, Invisible Children, the Armenian National Committee, and Never Again Campaign among others.

--Featuring ongoing slide show and interactive awareness project, Camp Darfur, an educational event that brings attention to the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan, and gives individuals the opportunity to discover their own power to make a difference.

--Featuring a variety of craft vendors and foods

--Native American opening blessing followed by Yoga class at 10am

--Child friendly atmosphere with face painting, storytelling, world renowned contact juggler, and puppetmaster

--All in the unique community and setting that is Topanga in the Santa Monica Mountains

Funds raised will go to build a secondary school in the refugee camp, Kounoungo in Chad. This would give many children hope and save lives by preventing young children from venturing back into Darfur in search of educational possibilities, where they are at risk of being killed or recruited as child soldiers. A secondary school would not only give hope and education but the real potential to affect their own destiny.

When: September 15 from 10-5

Where: Topanga Community House Fairgro
