Mike from Twirl Radio/Tuesday Night Diner's Interests
General
Radio, music, food, travel, computers. I like BBQ'ing and grilling. Even though I'm from California, I know the difference!
Music
Check out my playlists at http://www.twirlradio.com/playlist.php. But before you do, consider the following to be a small portion of my musical heroes:
Well-known:
Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Juliana Hatfield, R.E.M., Robyn Hitchcock, The Who, Los Lobos, The Blasters, X, John Hiatt, Robert Cray, Cake, Uncle Tupelo, The Jayhawks, Chris Isaak, The Smithereens, Frank Black, NRBQ, Barenaked Ladies, Liz Phair, Dionne Warwick, Beat Farmers, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, Ray Charles, Old 97's, Ben Folds.
Ones that should be well-known:
The Taters, Winzenried, Boswalos, Kama Linden, Raistalla, Two Dollar Pistols, Scott Miller, Kevin Seconds/Go National, Spanic Boys, Ass Ponys, and many more!
Movies
The Blues Brothers, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Dirty Harry, The Kids Are Alright, Duel, Back to the Future, Play Misty for Me, Spinal Tap. Okay--something from the last decade or so? Men in Black, Storefront Hitchcock, The Truman Show, Anchorman, School of Rock. I've missed more movies than I've seen--when I decide to finally catch up, I'm going to give Netflix or Blockbuster a real windfall.
Television
5 seconds of everything that's on (hey, I'm a guy!) But I do like Monk, Law and Order, Good Eats with Alton Brown, Animal Planet, and the greatest show of all time: The Rockford Files!
And of course, gotta give props to the comedies of my youth: Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, Carol Burnett, All in the Family, MASH, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, and many more which are probably better than most of what's available today--that's my age showing!
Heroes
People who selflessly make a difference. Great diplomats, scientists, musicians, writers, comedians, filmmakers. Anybody who makes your world a little bit better or happier.
