Sweaty men in white shirts and tight trousers with blood all over them at folk festivals!!!!
Twisted Steel are a women's Rapper dance side from Warwickshire. Having originated from Warwick, we have moved practice venue and now spend most of our time hanging around a pub, The (infamous) Newbold Comyn Arms, just down the road in Royal Leamington Spa (see details below!) We are all members of morris dancing sides and for some reason routed the idea of doing a bit of rapper....and bizzarely, we actually found that we enjoy it - so we are still risking life and limb every other week for the good of the cause (or is it just for Nick's fine ales???)
As well as dancing in some strange Morrisy-type places with some even stranger Morrisy-type people. We can occasionally be found mesmerising one of the audience members at various Steamchicken/Peeping Tom Ceilidhs and QP (Quarter Pounders) gigs. We also have been known to terrorise general members of the public on random pub tours. Recently we have added some more dance outs to our ever expanding list and are enjoying every minute of it.
TWISTED STEEL practice on Monday nights 8-10pm in the Stables bar at the Newbold Comyn Arms pub, Newbold Comyn Road East, Leamington Spa, CV32 4EU. Check for practice dates first (07944538197), then feel free to join us/watch us & have a laugh!
You would be very welcome here Twisted Steel Rapper. If you were planning on a visit we'll try and organise some Welsh Country Dancing or Border Morris to join you for some fun, beer and sandwiches.
Glad you had a good time - I certainly did & I'm a lot less stressed now! Crack open the beer! Cracking photo's - I too will be posting some soon... Loved the inflatable swords by the way. They ought to become a perniment fixture! My hubby is still raving about the dancing on the boat - maybe that should become a regular fixure as well!?
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
