  • Bio

It starts in your toes, a little twitch, which takes over your right foot. Suddenly your whole leg is thumping uncontrollably to the driving beat and you either have to get up and dance or perish in your seat. How anyone can resist the pull of a sound that's been described as "Swampy, Stomp Jazz" is beyond comprehension. The stage is riddled with guitars, far too many for the bands three members surely? And the biggest voice in blues is inexplicably coming from the mouth of the smallest girl on the stage. As far as three piece bands go, Two Girls Will are loud, and full, and bursting with energy. Front and centre is Colleen Fricker, ripping straight into your soul with her deep, dark, grungy voice, a passionate seduction through lyrics you will never quite be able to get out of your head. Days later you still find your brain ticking over with siren songs of Sapphic love, heartbreak and taking control of your own damn life. If Colleen is sad, she'll break your heart, in love- you're right there with her, and if someone has pissed her off you want to dance right up there on stage and lyrically punch your ex square in the face. Slightly to the left is Will Pippen who can't be tied down, moving all over the stage in a frenzy of guitar changes. Filthy grunge resonator, acoustic blues rock, addictive electric riffs distorted and "wha-ed" into pure jazz bliss. Not to mention the quickest, dance driven lap steel a man ever placed upon his knees. Head to the bar for even a minute and you will think you have come back to a different band. Pippen's on the drums now swinging his arms like a man possessed. If you thought this kid was something special on the guitar you ain't seen nothing yet. This is where Sarah Heydon takes her moment to shine, a multi talented musician who can play any instrument placed in her hands. When she's not up on the kit forcing everyone to their feet she's taken to the saxophone, bringing all the sex and driving everyone to their knees. Two Girls Will have been the local darlings of the Sydney Blues and Roots festival for three years running, charming punters along side the likes of Jeff Lang, Ash Grunwald, Chain and The Baby Animals. At last years festival they released their debut Album 'The Tease' which shot to number four on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Chart. Fast paced dance beats; dirty, captivating guitar licks and burning lyrics mean Two Girls Will are quickly carving a place for themselves on the blues and roots scene.
