The Toronto-based duo of TWO LEFT, comprised of KORCE and KIT'KNOWS (cousins Tosh and Kit Weyman) bring an undeniable chemistry to their music. The two possess a connection that is apparent both on stage performing, and when creating in the studio.
One could almost say that Two Left has been a project in the making for all 23 years of these young artists’ lives. Much of their musical connection can be attributed to having grown up in a close-knit extended family, living only a few blocks away from each other. In fact, as little tykes, the two cousins lived in the same house for a time. Back then, even though Korce wasn’t making beats with his rattle while Kit Knows spat something over top (literally), their strong bond was apparent. This connection was further solidified with their discovery of Hip Hop, and more importantly, what they were able to do with it.
Initially, the idea of making music as a group was not a pursuit. Instead, the two spent their time freestyling to any instrumental tracks they could find, practicing and honing their lyrical skills. Gradually, they began writing verses down, slowly gaining interest in what they could do as an organized group. Although happy to use any beat to rap on, they wanted something of their own to begin writing original songs. This idea was realized when Korce got his hands on a free copy of Pro Tools. He looped a simple 8 bar sample from “Pachabel’s Canon” over a Slum Village drum line. The beat was by no means impressive, but it was their own, and it opened a whole new door.
With a background in acting, the duo grasp the true meaning of engaging stage presence. With the combination of live saxaphone and drummming, the Two consistently win the crowd over with their energetic, innovative, and passion filled show;
Brought up with classical training, the beats Korce churns out bring a musicality rarely heard in most hip hop. A seasoned actor, poet, and storyteller, Kit Knows is able to bring vivid imagery and presence to the music, creating multi-layered and dynamic tracks.
Now moving into a new phase of the group, Korce is able to concentrate purely upon the music production side, while Kit continues to handle the duties of M.C.
