   About Terry Walker Project (TWP)
“TWP” is a jazz/funk party band that covers the great horn bands of the 60’s, 70’s thru today Musical influences* Tower of Power, James Brown, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, BS&T, Kenny G. Neville Bros. You get the idea. Terry L. Walker- Lead Vocals/Percussion- Terry has been performing locally almost non-stop for over 30 years with many of the areas favorite bands. Currently Terry is the male lead vocalist with “Brotherhood”. His past bands include his own band “No Compromise and the Kamikaze Horns” and “Discovery” to name a few. His “blue eyed” soulful vocal style has made him a mainstay in R&B and Funk bands throughout the years. His performing characteristics and attention to detail have put him in demand for many High Society and Corporate events. Terry has shared the stage with many artists such as, 3 Dog Night, Chuck Mangione, Hall & Oates, and John Mellencamp. Most notably, Terry was invited by the members of “Toto” to perform on stage during their Binghamton concert appearance. Jim Wilding- Guitar/Vocals- Jim has been one of the premier guitar educators in the area for over 25 years, having taught some of the area's most promising young musicians such as Randy Mcstine, Bob Becker, and Jake Bucher. Wilding's innate musical sensibilities bring a high level of energy and excitement that are guaranteed to rock the house. Jim has performed in many of the areas top bands such as, “Discovery”, “Brotherhood” and “Mr. Clean” and most recently “Old Friends”. Jim Wilding's impressive guitar blends of rhythmic groove, versatility, coupled with a soulful voice have made him one of the most in-demand musicians in the area. Whether laying down a funky rhythm or lead solo or singing from the heart, Jim is a huge asset, and absolutely one of the top and most passionate players in the area. Joe Roma- Drums/Percussion- Joe is on the BCC music department faculty, teaches private drum and percussion lessons. He is the Principal Timpanist in the Tri-Cities Opera orchestra and the set drummer in the Miles Ahead Jazz Quartet. Joe has been performing for years in many of the areas top bands including Brotherhood and Mr. Clean. He has also accompanied many acclaimed artists such as, Dionne Warwick, Slam Stewart, and Houston Person. If you have gone to the Ice Capades or to the circus it is Joe who plays drums. His keen senses of rhythm and rock solid percussion patterns are crucial to the fundamental groove that drives TWP. Tony Godoy- Trumpet/Vocals- Tony holds a B.M. in Trumpet Performance and an M.M. in Music Education from the Ithaca College School of Music. Originally a Vestal native, Tony began performing at a young age with many area ensembles. Tony joined the United States Air Force where he performed for four years with the USAF Band of Liberty Concert Band and the Ambassador’s Jazz. Tony has performed with Aretha Franklin, Jack Jones, Helen Reddy, Crystal Gale, The Lettermen, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Platters, The Four Aces, and others. He is currently a band director at Johnson City Middle School. Tony, is a member of the Mario Desantis Band (based out of Syracuse), and enjoys freelancing throughout New York State. His Trumpet screams the high notes and Tony can switch effortlessly to a soft melody that will soothe your soul. Tom Sorber- Keyboards/Vocals- Tom is a very versatile musician and arranger. His musical influences have shaped him into a well schooled funky infected two-fisted good time keyboardist. He is a multi faceted keyboardist comfortable whether playing smooth piano, high energy, complicated rhythms and leads on a Hammond B3 organ, or a ripping synth line. Tom has done numerous studio recordings. He has taught piano music theory and directed church choirs and orchestras. Tom co-founded the Gospel group "Jacob's Ladder", has been a signed musician with the ABC Dunhill Recording Company, Tom won a National song writing competition, wrote the fight song theme for the Broome Dusters hockey team (1970’s), and has had one of his original songs published by a major Gospel label. Tom was a principal player with “No Compromise and the Kamikaze Horns”, “Rooster and the Roadhouse Horns” and the “Unity Group”. His playing is likely to set your soul on fire. Maurice Taylor- Trombone/Vocals (aka Reese "T" or Mo) - Mo is a versatile instrumentalist that can play many different styles of music. His soulful voice accentuates the grooves of the band. As you will hear with "TWP" he is most at home with the Funk and R&B genre. Mo is the director of the Binghamton University Pep Band and is an Assistant with the Binghamton University Jazz Ensemble. Mo has played gigs with “No Compromise and the Kamikaze Horns” and was a member of “Spice of Life” during the 80’s. Mos' “Bone” playing coupled with his voice, cool spirit and infectious energy are truly assets to the TWP show. Gene Cothran- Keyboards/Vocals- Gene grew up in Philadelphia going to clubs and listening to jazz, blues and R&B, his musical training was strictly classical. After returning from the service and resuming his job with IBM in Endicott, NY, Gene attended a ten week training course in Manhattan where he spent time congregating with several musicians. Inspired by the experience, Gene began lessons with local jazz impresario Doug Beardsley when he returned to Endicott. He has played with local blues and R&B bands and jazz musicians in the Binghamton, Ithaca, and Elmira areas with “Twilight City Blues Band” and “One Step South”). He also played with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre based “Detonators” with whom he performed at the Syracuse Blues Festival and the Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse and Rochester, NY. Other accomplishments include playing with the “Detonators” at the International Blues Talent Contest on the famous Beale Street in Memphis. Gene has shared the stage with the legendary Pinetop Perkins and Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin from the Muddy Waters band, and played with blues recording artist Sista Monica .Gene continues to play in the Binghamton area currently with Blue Shift, and Miles Ahead and now with the Terry Walker Project (TWP). Gene’s laid back soulful manner and sophisticated grooves are just what the doctor ordered. Robert Weinberger- Sax, Flute, Percussion/Vocals (AKA Rob, Bobby Watts)- Rob is a master technician in the art of music improvisation. His extensive career has taken him on a musical trip literally all around the world. In the past, Rob has performed with many well known artists such as, James Brown, Steve Winwood, Larry Coryell and Blues Traveler. He was a member of “The Worms” who released two original music albums in NYC. Rob too, is a former member of “No Compromise and the Kamikaze Horns” and the founding member of “Unity Group”. As the TWP horn section leader, Rob has developed an “in your face” approach to arrangements that will sanctify even the most discriminating taste in music. Anthony Alduino- Bari/Alto Sax/Vocals (AKA Tony)- Tony spends days as a music educator in the Susquehanna Valley School District. He is frequently called upon to play saxophone with the Sammy Kay Orchestra, Music Unlimited, Blue Velvet Big Band and the Southern Tier Concert Band. Tony has also recorded with the Rascher Saxophone Ensemble, the Fredonia Saxophone Ensemble, and the Saxophone Sinfonia, an 18 piece saxophone ensemble that has performed at the Lincoln Center. He teaches privately at The Woodwind Studio in Conklin, and is on the Executive Board of BCMEA and is a NYSSMA All-State adjudicator. Prior to coming to the Binghamton area, he was a member of the Onondaga Community College faculty and saxophonist with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Terry. Congrats on the band's launch at Blues on the Bridge. It's amazing you pulled off putting together a hot band with so many diverse members. Quite a feat, indeed. Good luck.
