Interests

  • General

I love Nintendo, all the way from the NES to Kira's new Wii. Zelda is a particular interest, currently awaiting the newest addition to the Zelda series. I have recently taken up carpentry as I have a shop full of tools now, thanks to my employer and their recently revoked quarterly giftcard system.. RIP. I'm still in the learning stages, but I still enjoy it mistakes and all.
  • Music

I enjoy what Sirius refers to as "Prime Country" (1975-2000) and obnoxiously loud rock-n-roll. I do realize that enjoying both is a bit of a paradox. I take interest in Christian Rock, however, my interest in Christian music stops there; traditional music is just too slow and boring for me.
  • Movies

Anything but Horror Flicks. As I get older, I find the dramas aren't as interesting as they used to be. Action and comedy still are my favorites.
  • Television

Discovery Channel, A&E. The Science Channel and History... you know.. learning stuff. I enjoy watching Scrubs, House and Clark Howard too.

About me:

TRAPPED IN A MYSPACE SERVER FARM SEND HELP

but seriously

Ready for a novel? Me neither. Lets sum it up.

My father has worked in the oilfield for as long as I've been alive. My mother is always keeping herself busy with sewing, embroidery and anything else she make. My sister is several years younger than me, was recently married and is my opposite.

I started fiddling with computers from the day I broke my first one when I was ten years old and was given the opportunity to either fix it myself or else. Being protective of my bottom, I fixed it. Three years later the Internet became available and I was hooked. It is only fitting that my first job, beyond that of working for my parents, was at an Internet Provider in my hometown of Tyler. I worked there for a little over two years before starting at a medium-large paging company. In order to advance from the low-level PC grunt to Network Admin, I had to quit school. I did.

The next few years were full of relationships. Some allowed me to grow spiritually, some hindered me psychologically.. and some taught me how hurtful people can be. Regardless of how or where these relationships manifested, they made me the person I was. It was all in preparation for one very important event I was totally ignorant of. It was all for the day I met my wife. We fittingly met on the Internet in a chat room and were married six months later. Six weeks after that, I was downsized. I was shocked; putting seven years into a career only to be kicked to the curb was a disappointment to say the least. If only I could thank those people now. I did some hourly work after Hurricane Katrina for a large bank in Baton Rouge and then worked for a hospital for several weeks but neither panned out into anything sustainable. After the disappointment with the hospital, I decided that there was only one thing that would keep my family afloat.

My wife is from Louisiana. South-east Louisiana specifically. In fact, the first time I spoke to her, I told her I was going to a town near where she lived. She didn't know it at the time, but I only said it to get her attention, I didn't have any clue where this town was. I confessed this lie to her only after we were married and she couldn't take off. (humor) Don't judge, just means to an end. Her father is a boat captain. Kira is complicated in ways I don't even want to try and unravel. She is more woman than I have ever dated or dreamed of. Kira rounded my personality out a bit; not because she didn't like me, but because my edges were too rough for her delicate nature. She has made me desire to be a better man for her.

The day I was sent home from the hospital is the same day I called my father-in-law and asked how to get a job working on a boat. I was told the name of the guy to call and immediately called him. I left my house the next morning at 3am to be in Lafayette at 8am for an interview. I was hired and went off the same day to Houston to go see the Coast Guard to get some paperwork filled out. I got home around midnight that night, very tired from driving 700 miles in a single day, but very relieved that I had a plan to take care of my wife and my new daughter Hannah.

Hannah is a mess. I don't mean that in a mean way.. I mean that she is the product of two people who are very alike in some ways and miles apart in others. The day I found out Kira was preg, I asked God only for a healthy baby.. nothing more, nothing less. God really took care of that one desire I had. Hannah is a real treat, she is a very bright ray of sunshine in my life. Truthfully, I still can't stand everyone elses crybaby kids.. but WOW do I love mine! I would do anything for that little girl.

Speaking of God, He is with me every step of the way from the day I first meddled with a computer all the way till the present. I can always reassure myself and my wife anytime we're worried or scared by reminding that we've always been taken care of.

I'm not so much into computers anymore beyond that of personal interests like jackupforum.com or helping out my church with their website. Every since my father-in-law and I built a storage building I deemed my shop, I have been practicing carpentry in terms of furniture building. I have a lot of learn :/ K, I'm done writing.
