Jerry Holden founded TMG in 1988. It started out as a small company in an "in-home" recording studio. TYAD Music Group (TMG) through Holden's vision, believes that a music group needs to offer diversity in its record labels to succeed in today's ever-changing and demanding market. Nine record labels have been formed each label focuses on a specific music genre. In addition, TMG developed three more companies that Holden felt would assist in the success of TMG - a music publishing division; a film company/movie studio, and a concert promotions/events division.
Holden has also surrounded himself with some industry veterans as presidents of the labels: Tom Gorman, president of Whatever Music - pop; Kenny Bereal, president of N-fluence Records - urban; Kim Langbecker, president of Karnal Records - rock/alternative; Cal Bennett,, president of Steppin Records - jazz/nu-jazz; Denise Desgain and Lee Dietrich, presidents of Hey Y'all Records - country; Sharon Winslow, president of UpsideDown Records - comedy; Javier Willis, president of Soñar Records; Dinasye Collins, and Olivier Roulon,, presidents of Thrive Productions - production company; and Shea Chambers, president of TYAD Pictures - film company/movie studio. And by the suggestion of Kenny Bereal of N-fluence Records and TMG Music Publishing, "J" as Holden is called by most of the Team at TMG and its labels, is heading up the dance label The Beat Records.
SUBMISSIONSWe are asked this question all the time. All submissions are done at the label levels. Each label president has a full staff of A&R, Promotions, Marketing, Publicity, New Media, and Sales. TMG and/or Jerry Holden only reviews music to be signed to the labels when when the presidents of the labels feel strongly that they are interested in signing an artist or group.
