  • Bio

I'm a guitarist, composer, and music teacher based in Brooklyn, NY. .. My main project is a group I co-founded over a decade ago called Gutbucket. We're releasing our fifth CD "Flock" on Cuneiform Records in February '11, and we frequently tour across the US and Europe. More info/tour dates/videos/etc are all available at www.gutweb.com .. I was featured in the August 2006 issue of Guitar Player Magazine, which called my music “kinetic punk jazz opuses” which reveal “an explosive concoction containing lethal doses of Ornette Coleman, King Crimson, John Zorn, Black Sabbath, Stravinsky, and Fugazi.” In 2005, the Guardian (UK) wrote that my composition “ ‘Throsp%’ boasts a hypnotically creeping guitar riff and an atmosphere of sustained menace” which “is not standard jazz territory.” I take that as a compliment. .. I play and collaborate (when I can) with Ethel, Rhys Chatham, Eyal Maoz, Kaoru Watanabe, Todd Reynolds, Anti-Social Music, Lily Maase and the Suite Unraveling, and in the not-so-distant past...Glenn Branca, Lumatic, Dirty Sock Funtime Band, Gena Rowlands Band and others. I also enjoy playing Tom Anderson guitars - check them out at www.andersonguitars.com! ..
