Thanks to all the previous band members of the Tygers of Pan Tang, without each one of you there would not have been a band so relevant
in its time. The music that was produced was something to be very
proud of.

HEAVY METAL MANIACS,HOORN/'LIVE' FOOTAGE 2009 SLAVE TO FREEDOM & NEVER SATISFIED
Unfortunately the band had to cancel three shows in September and we apologies for that, we do not take these decisions lightly but at times there is no alternative. After a couple of years of good fortune we found ourselfs with all the issues at once inc accidents and personal commitments. The cancelled shows will be re-arranged for 2010 with a couple more added but we then plan to take a break for a while from the UK touring circuit only playing festivals and special appearances. There are plans for some European shows to co-incide with some festival appearances but the main aim over the next 12 months is to release the 30 year celebration of Wildcat EP/CD and record a new album.
By releasing the EP we hope to bring to close our dedication to this iconic album and also a musical chapter for the band. The band have already starter preperation fo the next full length album release which we hope will take a slighltly more varied direction. The guys want to really push themselves with their writing & musical ability on this one. Animal Instinct was a fantastic up tempo "Balls Out" Rock album and not too disimilar to Wildcat but we have to raise our game evan further with this one. The band will write, rehearse and record material throughout 2010. The working title for the album is "Ambush" which again keeps the Tygers theme although we are looking at some dramatic artwork for the CD cover.
The Tyger force fan club has steadily grown over the past 6 months and we thank you for all your interest and support in the band. By joining the Tyger Force you will be the first to receive news and get some personal interaction with the band. Joining is very simple, just send us an email via the general contact page at www.tygersofpantang.com with your name and we will add you from there.
Finally we would like to welcome a new face to the backroom staff at Tygers, we would like to introduce you to Thinny who has agreed to re-design and update the website for us on a more regular basis than we have done before. We understand the importance of an up to date site and there is no better than this guy. Thinny ran the Thunder site for many years so he has vast experience of what you guys want to see. if your a fan of Thunder and you have checked out there site before then you will know what to expect. We want the site more informative and little less sterile so its fantastic to have Thinny on-board. Make sure you check out the site at www.tygersofpantang.com to see the new design etc.
LATEST NEWS - JUNE 2009
2009 has so far been a busy year for the Tygers of Pan Tang and we thought we had a steady plan for the year but after receiving two phone calls we were thrown into chaos once again with schedules, time-scales and more detailed planning meetings taking place. These two phone calls were from The Chronicle in Newcastle to record a Whitley Bay Wembley Antham and Angel Air Records expressing Interest in Realeasing a Delux Version of "Animal Instinct". Both were opportunities that could not be missed so as always we agree to the almost unacheivable projects and knuckle down getting on with the plan.
Th Chronicle had left it late in contacting us but following some intervention from a music lover in the North East of England and friend of the Journalist involved they made contact 3 weeks prior to the final. The bands association with Whitley Bay comes from the early years when the band were based there, lived there and never failed to promote the Region in interviews etc. We immediately booked the recording studio and set about writing the song. Because of the tight time scale we thought about re-writing "Live for the Day" as this has become a Live favourite and has that Antham Type chorus changing the title to "Live for the Bay". We checked out the previous footie songs by other artists and thought this would be very different to them. The band wrote and recorded the song in a week and it was available for free downloading on Music Glue one week before the final at Wembley which we are pleased to say the Team won 2-0. If you have not heard the song and want this free download you can check it out by forwarding to the Music Glue site via the icon on our Myspace and website Pages.
The second call was from our old friend Peter at Angel Air Records who has released a couple of Tygers product in the past including "Visions from the Cathouse and "Live in the Roar" asking if we would be interested in releasing a Delux version of Animal Instinct. After some serious dilliberation we agreed as long as the Delux package included some new songs, some older classic songs re-recorded and a free DVD with some unseen footage. We did not want to give you just another standard version of Animal Instinct with slightly better Artwork but rather a whole new package. "Great" this was agreed enthusiasticly and Angel Air agreed for it to be the Labels 300th Release. The schedule then came to us which gave us four weeks to get all the parts to the label for a July 13th release. Back again to tight schedules and more pressure (we love it really).
Having completed all the parts necessary for the Delux Version of Animal Instinct and I have to say we are very excited. We have slightly different Artwork completed, we have two new songs including something brand new which we know you will love as well as "Live for the Bay", three classic tracks re-recorded, the whole of Animal Instinct and nearly 2 hours of DVD footage recorded over the last two years.
We're about to launch three new merchandise designs. We have approved 2 classic Tour shirts from 1980 & 1982 British Tour and also a White T shirt version of Animal Instinct 2009. The Classic Album Cover Designs have now sold out so we thought this would be the natural progression to move onto Tour Classics. The shirts will be available from 9th June from the webshop. These shirts sell out almost immediately so make sure you get in quickly.
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Wildcat later in the year we are proposing the next Back & Beyond EP will include one new song and four tracks re-worked from the Wildcat album. The EP will be titled Back2Beyond and we are looking for a release date of December 2009. We will only be pressing 500 copies and will sell these via the Tyger force fanclub first then the webshop so make sure you are part of the Tyger Force by dropping us an email via the contact page on the website. We may do some pre-release sales and the guys will sign the covers for collectability but again watch out for updates.
On the touring side we are playing as many countries as posssible this year with trips to Greece, Poland, Holland, Germany and we are now planning more dates in Italy for August and the UK for September. There is also a possiblilty of more mainland European dates in October/ November.
2008 was a great year for the Tygers which saw the release of 'Animal Instinct' to worldwide critical acclaim and a host of shows culminating in the appearance at the Hard Rock Hell 2 Festival in Prestatyn, UK. At times it was difficult to maintain the plan we had set for 2008 as things were moving so fast but after years of experience in this industry we have now learned to keep our feet on the ground and ensure when we do things we do them right.
For those of you who supported the band by buying the album, coming to the shows, purchasing the merchandise a big big "Thank You" Without your loyalty and commitment we could not survive as a band and its because of you we continue to love creating music. We have always said the band is about you, the fan, the music lover and this will continue to owe the bands resurgence to you all.
Our hopes for 2009 continue in the same positive manner, we hope to promote 'Animal Instinct (x 2)' in some of the countries we have not yet been to and re-visit some old friends in those countries we have. We ask that you all help spread the word that the Tygers are back on great form once again and for every lover of old school British Hard Rock, 'Animal Instinct' will be one of your albums of 2008/9. The reviews of Animal Instinct from the media have also been superb... Geoff Barton, who was Editor of Sounds and is now the Editor at Large at Classic Rock Magazine commented that if he had to choose from, with only enough money to buy, Def Leppards 'Songs from the Sparkle Lounge', Whitesnakes 'Good to be Bad' or 'Animal Instinct' he would plump for Animal Instinct. We would like you to make your own mind up on this but to be compared is a great honour. Another exceptional review is by Komodo Rock, a UK website for classic rock music who gave the album 9/10.
The album continues to sell well and is available in most parts of the world. If you cannot locate this locally then please check out the Amazon sites, HMV sites or buy direct from Cargo Records UK. Please avoid ebay as these just might be Croatian copies which are of dubious quality.
OTHER NEWS
At Hard Rock Hell 2 Festival (UK) we had a fantastic time. This was a great opportunity to play to a rock fraternity and hopefully convert new fans. In the one-hour set the Tygers crammed classic songs with three new tracks from 'Animal Instinct': Bury the Hatchet, Cry Sweet Freedom and Live for the Day. All in all the reception was fantastic and the comments on the HRH forum have been very positive, placing the Tygers no 8 for performance of the weekend.
More festival appearances have been added to the gig including Metal Maniacs Festival in Holland and Keep It True in Germany. We are very excited to play both these are they are very well recognised festivals that has a a real old school spirit and fanbase. We are very hopefull of many more announcements over the early part of 2009.
Be sure to check our website and visit the shop which has a veriety of Tyger items, all of them offical and approved by Tygers of Pan Tang Ltd. Send us an email on the contact page and we will add you to the Tyger Force which is the bands mailing list and news update channel.

ARCHIVE NEWS
A brief history of the Tygers of Pan Tang
Originally formed by Robb Weir, Brian Dick, Rocky (Richard Laws) and Jess Cox they rapidly built a local following from gigging relentlessly and made their first signing with local independent label Neat Records before MCA gave them a major record deal. After several singles, they released their first album Wild Cat in 1980. The album reached No:18 in Britain on the first week of its release.
John Sykes was added as second guitarist while Jess Cox sought pastures new and was replaced by Persian Risk vocalist Jon Deverill. This line up released the classic album: Spellbound in 1981. The album was critically acclaimed and loved by the fans. Battling against the odds and a lack of record company support the band quickly recorded there third album, the under-rated Crazy Nights. Shortly after recording and just before the start of a European tour John Sykes decided to leave the band so they approached ex-Penetration guitarist Fred Purser.
Tygers Of Pan Tang's fourth album The Cage (1982) was their most accomplished effort and things looked promising. Unfortunately the record company support was lacking and were not prepared to promote the band unless they agreed to play more cover recordings (following the band's hit with "Love Potion No. 9"). The band tried to break free from their contract but MCA's demands exceeded the willingness of any other record company to pay to free the band and the band broke up in frustration.
However, this was not the end of the band. They were invited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Tygers of Pan Tang and the 10th Wacken Open Air. Jess Cox and Robb Weir, backed up by members of the band Blitzkrieg performed a memorable show. Recording tapes of their performance gave rise to the Live at Wacken album.
In 2001, Robb Weir decided to reform the band, despite being the only original member. Robb wanted to keep the name alive and play for the fans. The new Tygers line-up were Dean Robertson (lead guitar), Brian West (bass) and Craig Ellis (drums) who remain to this day and are now the longest ever serving members of the band together with Robb. They released Mystical through Z-Records and in 2004 Noises in the Cathouse.
Later the same year, Richie Wicks left and was replaced by Italian vocalist Jacopo Meille from the band Mantra.
2007 was a challenging and exciting time for the Tygers, the plan set was to raise the activity and profile of the band however, in order to get the fanbase back to its rightful levels the product had to complement this ambition. The 5 track EP Back & Beyond was very well received by both the fans and the Industry alike and the two new tracks: Bury the Hatchet and Live for the Day were the perfect taster of what is to come in 2008.
Animal Instinct was completed with Ben Matthews of Thunder having undertaken the mixing duty once again after the fantastic job he did with the Back & Beyond EP. The album has 11 tracks of classic British Hard Rock from start to finish with distribution in the hands of Cargo Records.
We ask that you check in regularly for up to date news, check out the website www.tygersofpantang.com and certainly come and see a show or two if we are playing close by. The band love to give value for money and spend a lot of time seeking out new talent to bring on tour. We also ask the venue to invite a local band so it will almost always be a three band bill. Also check out the webshop and grab yourself some merchandise or the EP etc.
2009 will be a great year for Tygers of Pan Tang and fans of Rock.
£leTriKa sounds completely different from any Metal band you have ever heard. The Brazilian rhythms and the Portuguese language added to the songs makes its style unique, giving birth to a new kind of Metal. If you are really looking for something new about Metal, you should check £leTriKa out!
