After a year's silence, Emelia tracks down her older brother Tyler, who had moved away from their home town of Detroit to live with a girl he thought loved him. She finds him alone in Boston, working two jobs to pay rent on a lease he can't afford now that his girlfriend has left him. He's embittered, reclusive, and above all- angry. His world of shallow friendships, booze, cigarettes, and promiscuity seems attractive to Emelia, a recent high school grad in search of adventure. But as Emelia enters Tyler's life again, she forces him to confront his own failure and realize the loveless life he has created for himself in the wake of his breakup. Circling around this central relationship are a cast of characters that all find themselves in the middle of a desperate, frantic search for connection at a time when selfishness and sexuality seem to overwhelm the culture of their generation. All things bad and all things good entangle themselves in this film of young people struggling to love one another amidst the drowning chaos of life circa 2006.
