Tym Whitaker, singer songwriter, guitarist and oh so hairy one is responsible for creating platforms for acousticians, artists and the like at a variety of venues. It is ritualistic for his brother and himself [The Acid Folk] to commence these open mic sessions which have been thriving and confirming a craving for acoustic expression for over ten years.
Currently you can witness these bellowing songsmiths at The Red Lion, Godalming, Surrey every Thursday for absolutely nothing and actually turn up on an evening and perform on the same stage without a prior booking. To be sure of your slot you must be there by 7.30 p.m.
Tym and Si Whitaker have been partners in various musical guises over the years earning themselves support slots for the likes of Van Morrison and Roy Harper and touring about England with sex goddess of the seventies Sonja Kristina. They have performed live BBC 1 and other large stages such as Glastonbury Festival and are currently being offered tours around Canada and England so catch them at The Red Lion before they take off.
