Life began in Texas. For my sustenance, I would feast on BBQ, Steaks and Willie Nelson. One of those gave me indigestion, one gave me bad breath and the other opened my eyes to the wonderful magic kingdom that is Country Music.
I went to Nashville to follow my dreams of Tyrannosaurus Tex on the marquis signs across the country only to find a bunch of suits looking for the next cliche to walk through the door. They were so interested in the new, evolved country singer that they couldn't recognize the King of the Cretaceous when they saw him. I refused to pander to the likings of those fools. I write what the people want to hear - not what they can use for some freaking Toyota Tundra commercial (even though much of my music would be perfect for advertising - at the right price).
So I ventured out on my own – much like the cowboys in the old West. I started writing and looking for songs that actually mean something. I ain’t afraid to sing about topics that the pointy-toe-boot wearin’ country singers are embarrassed of. I sing about what the people want and NEED to hear about. If you don't like it - then you ain't country.
