My band (Romantasy) and I spent this Summer '08 in the Riviera--Monte Carlo at the world-famous SPORTING CLUB, opening for all the headliners on the festival, among them CELINE DION, DIANA ROSS, CARLOS SANTANA, ALICIA KEYS, ERIC CLAPTON, JILL SCOTT, CHICAGO, ZZ TOP, MACY GRAY, Brazilian Superstar CAETANO VELOSO, U.K. wonderkind JAMIE CULLUM,, and so many more, before headlining, ourselves, at the newly opened MOODS Nightclub for 2 weeks. Previously, we've opened for such notables as LARRY CORYELL, VANESSA RUBIN and ANGELA BOFILL, and I have (happily)recorded and performed with many well-known and undiscovered artists (see site for listing). Upon our return home, we opened in a "Prelude" Concert at NJPAC (New Jersey Perfroming Arts Center) for our buddy SAVION GLOVER and provided backing vocals (with my pals Branice McKenzie, LaTanya Hall and Keith Fluitt) for the incredible LEDISI and Gospel Maverick TON3X, as well as our good friends MARVA HICKS and ALYSON WILLIAMS for the BLACK2BROADWAY Tribute to our dear friends ADRIAN BAILY and BJ CROSBY! Then, WE HEAD BACK to MONTE CARLO for New Year's and another weeks at Moods in Jan! Life is Good! Meanwhile, I'm back to teaching Drama to my 6th and 8th Graders and my MUSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOPS, here in Montclair, and preparing to take on PERFORMANCE COACHING for the aspiring professional vocalist! I dig all kinds of music and have performed in many places around the world with many notable artists, including my own band, Romantasy. My main music passions are Classic R&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;B, Standard and Fusion Jazz, Classic Pop and Brazilian. I'm orginally from Philly, but moved to NYC as a Dancer in 1978, then, graduated into Musical Theatre with 2 Broadway shows (Original Casts of "SOPHISTICATED LADIES" AND "MARILYN, AN AMERICAN FABLE") and many Off Broadway and touring shows, ultimately finding my passion as a Vocalist/Songwriter while on B'way, to the present day. My influences are varied, as is my music, with my "teachers" being Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Jon Lucien, Chaka Khan, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Sarah Vaughan, Nat "King" Cole and more. With the JAZZMOBILE win opening new doors, locally, our main efforts, these days, is to gain more international recognition and exposure. To that end, we have already had one successful hit in London (1/29/07) at JAZZ AFTER DARK in the west end, and two in Tokyo: CHA CHA HOUSE (3/11/07) and B FLAT Club (3/14/07). We are accessing venues and festivals around the world and reaching our world audience, whom, we find, are craving good music--signed or not!
