"Dear U2charist Friends,
Wonderful new news from our Methodist brothers and sisters in Florida who held a U2charist at a recent regional gathering, had over 1000 people in attendance and raised-- are you ready for this? $127 000 to fight extreme poverty and global AIDS. No kidding. In one service they more than doubled what we'd raised together in the course of two years! WOW! Here is an article about said event:"
"One of the distinguishing features of Matthew’s theology that sets it apart from the other gospels is that he believes in something called “realized eschatology”. (Try using that term sometime in at a party and impress your friends.) In, short, it is the belief that the future is now. The Jesus we have been waiting for is already here. The Jesus in our future is already in our midst, albeit hidden, at first, but very accessible. Remember, Matthew is the only gospel to end with Jesus saying, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” That is realized eschatology. Jesus is present now.
And, brothers and sisters, if Matthew is right, this really changes everything. If Matthew is right, this changes the way we see other people, and it surely challenges the way we see the church.
If Matthew is right, then the purpose of the church changes dramatically, from containing Jesus to finding Jesus.
Suddenly, our primary task changes, from building monuments to creating movements.
From seeing the church as a sanctuary that holds Jesus to becoming a search party that goes out to look for Jesus, and to serve Jesus.
Suddenly, our job is not to create institutions that house Jesus, or even to practice an evangelism that passes Jesus out to people, as if we’ve cornered the market on a commodity. But our job but to energize people inside the church to go out and locate this Jesus in the lives, faces, and stories of those outside the church."

“Would to God that all the party names and unscriptural phrases and forms which have divided the Christian world were forgot, and that we might all agree to sit down together, as humble, loving disciples, at the feet of our common Master, to hear His word, to imbibe His spirit, and to transcribe His life in our own!”
John Wesley
ONE is the global campaign to fight extreme poverty and work to meet the UN's Millennium Development Goals. U2charists have raised over $10,000 for organizations fighting extreme poverty and global AIDS since the musical movement began a little over a year ago.

"These goals—clean water for all; school for every child; medicine for the afflicted, an end to extreme and senseless poverty—these are not just any goals; they are the Millennium Development goals, which this country supports. And they are more than that. They are the Beatitudes for a Globalised World." Bono
it was strange and cool; we had a cover band with "Dano" as Bono and by the end of the night (with no drinking!) he was Bono! They rocked out this auditorium and I've never seen a group of Episcopalians so wild! Not sure how much we raised, but it must have been a lot because there were probably over 200 people there. Check out Dano's band (and for U2charist bookings) www.tribute2u2.com

Have a great rest of the week!
So do not throw away Your confidence, it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when You have done the will of God, You will receive what he has promised ... Faith is being sure of what we hope for and being certain of what we do not see ... (Hebrews 10, 35 ff.)
