About me: The Student Support Services program works with 160 UAA students to help them succeed in college. There are a number of methods we implement to help our students succeed. For example, we offer tutoring to help our students achieve academically. Outside the classroom, we kick up our heels by going to the Anchorage Center for the Performing Arts to attend cultural events. It is a fantastic way to get away from the hustle & bustle of the semester. Nothing will take your mind off your next exam like an evening of culture with friends. Lastly, we are always available to meet with students one on one to help monitor their academic progress and keep them on the right track!
Who I'd like to meet: We would like to meet with all active SSS Participants a few times a semester. We are also looking to meet new students that fall into one of three categories. To be considered for SSS students must be one (or a combination) of the following: Students with limited income; Students who's parents did not obtain a bachelors degree; and/or Students with a documented disability on file w/the UAA DSS office.
