Bio
This band has actually been a long time coming. It starts back when we were all in high school together in a metal band. Officially though it was started in 2004-2005 when me, (Jesse Wojahn) and David Korger moved in together and started jammin' with acoustics. We both sang, played guitar, and wrote. It was a very open process and was the beginning of what started it all. The feeling and direction and overall emotion was created by our past and experiences together and this is still a part of the music today. After we turned 21 we started going into the Popcorn Tavern and watching local acts and on occasion playing during The Moonshine Conspiracy's breaks. We all seemed to like the same music and they seemed to like our music so every chance we got we'd play a couple songs. We did this for a while until it was second nature and then the Moonshine decided to have us come in before them and open the show as it would be more convenient for both bands. We definately weren't going to argue and by this point we had recruited Nate Pupp to play bongos so it just made sense. Up and Coming played at the Popcorn for about a year and built a small following of family and friends before David moved on. Me (Jesse) and Nate held down the gig for a few shows before recruiting Aaron Lampert to play 12 string guitar. We had played very little together before performing onstage but the only way to get comfortable is to just get up there and play. We slowly got comfortable with each others style and just threw ideas around. After a countless number of shows at the Popcorn on Mondays we started to get special guest appearances by other local musicians. We've had keyboards, full trap set, harmonica, electric guitar, bass, mandolin, and even a violin. We added a new member Roger Tysse, playing electric lead and Kyle Mackenzie, on full trap set. As of today these two have started their own band called Midnight Farmers. On March 14th 2009 Up and Coming started recording a studio album at St. Marys University with Roger on electric guitar and Steve Welter on trap set. The recording was a success and we're all very pleased with the final copy. We've hit the ground running and have been doing lots of new gigs at lots of new places. Currently the group is a quartet, adding Jeff on the bass. We are in the process of revamping our old songs a bit and writing new songs simaltaneously! Lots of fun! Thanx to everyone for your support and patience! Now it's time to move forward. New sound means new name.........Music Suspect! Influences
Older influences include a lot of metal and hard rock, alternative rock and punk, classic rock, and raggae but lately it's been more acoustic stuff like Radiohead, Guster, Jack Johnson, Modest Mouse and so on. I constantly change my likes for music and I seem to reach farther and farther into the past as time goes by. Gotta love the oldies I guess. They did start it all! -
