School of Library and Information Studies 's Blurbs
About me: Welcome to SLIS, the School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alabama. We are proud to be the state's premier Library and Information Science program, the only one accredited by the American Library Association for the Master of Library and Information Studies degree (MLIS).
Approximately seventy-five SLIS graduates a year begin their professional careers in university, college, or community college libraries; in public libraries; in school media centers; or in corporate information settings. They work as teachers, managers, vendors, entrepreneurs, webmasters and information specialists of all kinds.
SLIS also offers the Master of Fine Arts degree in the Book Arts accredited by NASAD, the National Association of Schools of Arts and Design.
SLIS resides on the fifth floor of the Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library, the main campus library, which provides a personal and intimate atmosphere on the busy UA campus. Please make an appointment to come and visit us!
Thanks to Phillip Anglin for the nice pictures of campus and Tuscaloosa.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone interested in the exciting worlds of librarianship, the information professions, and the book arts.
