About me: What IS the United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Inc.?
The United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) legally recognized organization with the United States Government. We raise monies for other 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) organizations in the Dallas Community. 2008 will begin our 30th year of raising much needed monies for various charities such as: AIDS Services of Dallas, AIDS Services of North Texas, Susan G Koman Breast Cancer Foundation, AIDS Interfaith Network, AIDS Food Pantry, Legacy Founders Cottage, etc.
The United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Inc. is a part of the Imperial Court System (ICS) which has over 70 chapters in the U.S. Canada & Mexico (7 of which are in Texas) and is the oldest Gay Fundraising organization in the world. The ICS was established in 1964 by a man named Jose Sarria, who today is 84 and lives in Palm Springs, California. In October 1964 the San Francisco Bar Guild held their first "Beaux Arts Ball" to celebrate Halloween. At the ball, Jose, a San Francisco favorite entertainer, was crowned "Queen of the Beaux Arts Ball". Immediately after her crowning, Jose announced "... there is an awful lot of Queens in San Fransisco, if I am to be THEIR Queen, then I will be known as Empress Jose I, the Widow Norton..." Immediately afterwards, Empress Jose granted titles to various people and they "held Court" in San Fransisco. The Court was the first organization to hold fundraisers to fight Anita Bryant and her initiative and was a pioneer in the fight on AIDS.
Today the United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Inc. continues to raise monies for various charities. You can help, join the United Court of the Lone Star Empire, Inc., help us raise monies and help us, help our Community.
