RELEASE - UDI e A GERAL
A banda Udi e a Geral foi formada em 2004, no bairro Restinga,
periferia de Porto Alegre. Composta pelo cantor e compositor Udi
Fagundes, Patrick Thomazini no baixo, Celso Thomazini na bateria,
Diego Lima no sax, Felipe Dias no teclado e pelos percussionistas Jota
Junior e Rafael du Vale, a banda participou, neste mesmo ano, do Fórum
Social Mundial e do Festival das Artes da Universidade do Rio de
Janeiro com a música Samba Para el Mundo, com influências de Mano Chao
e Chico Sciense.
Em 2005 gravou a demo BATUCADA que conquistou o circuito underground
no Brasil, na Argentina, no México e no Chile, foi quando surgiu o
primeiro convite para animar o Carnaval da Praia do Rosa SC. No verão
de 2006 a música La Buena Negra virou o hits do litoral catarinense, e
a banda Udi e a Geral a mais requisitada do cenário pop gaúcho. Ainda
em 2006 o grupo embarca para uma turnê de dois meses na Argentina.
Em 2007 a banda produz um clipe independente e concorre ao 15º Gramado
Cine Vídeo, um dos mais importantes festivais vídeográficos do cenário
brasileiro e latino, na categoria de melhor vídeo independente
brasileiro. O clipe da música Pedra retrata a realidade das drogas,
desigualdade social e a vontade de vencer na vida, em contraste com o
cotidiano da juventude na periferia gaúcha.
A banda lançou seu primeiro CD, produzido em parceria com o DJ Pierre
da França, no teatro Bruno Kiffer RS, em dezembro de 2007. Com 12
músicas próprias e uma regravação de Bixo do Coco, do Manu Chao e Lo
dedo Negro do Uruguaio Eduardo Mateo. O CD é uma mistura de ritmos e
influências: samba-rock, maracatu, reggae, black music, sons
africanos, brasileiros, música latina e outros grooves.
2008 foi um ano muito produtivo para a banda Udi e a Geral. Alem de
ter realizado shows durante todo o ano pelo RJ, foi tambem um ano de
projeções internacionais, abriu o show da contora escocesa Kate
Tunstall no Canecão, participou também do LAMC (Latin Alternative
Music Conference ) em Buenos Aires - ARG, conferencia de musica latina
que acontece todos os anos nas cidades de Nova Iorque, Cidade do
Mexico e Buenos Aires, convidados pelo Thomas Cookman, produtor do
Manu Chao nos EUA. Surpreendendo-o com o sucesso da banda na
conferencia, em Julho de 2009 será a vez da cidade de Nova Iorque
conhecer a mistura de ritimos desses gaúchos. A banda foi novamente
convidada para participar do LAMC.
Em 2009 a banda agitou o verão carioca. Barra da tijuca, Santa Tereza,
Buzios, Angra, Copacabana, Ipanema são alguns exemplos de lugares que
embalados pelo show de UDI e A GERAL no verão 2009. UDI e A GERAL grava seu segundo video CLIP Culpa do DJ com direção da Australiana Angela Barnett e Udi Fagundes. Atualmente UDI e A GERAL preparam a gravacao do primero dvd que sera gravado em outubro no RIO DE JANEIRO.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------INGLISH The band, Udi e a Geral, was formed in 2004 in Restinga, a peripheral neighborhood of Porto Alegre, Brazil and is comprised of the singer and songwriter Udi Fagundes, bassist Patrick Thomazini, drummer Celso Thomazini, saxophonist Diego Lima, keyboardist Felipe Dias and percussionists Jota Junior and Rafael du Vale. In its first year, the band participated in the Forum Social Mundial and Festival das Artes da Universidade do Rio de Janeiro with the song “Samba Para el Mundo,” influenced by Manu Chão and Chico Science. In 2005, the band recorded the song “Batucada” which took off in the underground music scenes of Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Chile and generated the band’s first invitation to play in the Carnaval da Praia do Rosa in Santa Catarina. In the summer of 2006, the song “La Buena Negra” became a hit on the Catarina coast, thus making the band Udi e a Geral the most requested in the “gaúcho” pop scene of southern Brazil. Also in 2006, the group embarked upon a two-month tour of Argentina. In the year 2007, the band produced an independent video clip and competed in the 15th Annual Gramada Cine Video contest, one of the two most important video festivals in the Brazilian and Latin music scene, in the category of Best Independent Brazilian Video. The video clip of the song, “Pedra” portrays the reality of drugs, social injustice and the desire to survive and thrive, juxtaposed with the daily lives of youth in the urban periphery of the South of Brazil. The band launched its first CD in December of 2007 in the city of Porto Alegre. With twelve original songs and a cover of “Bixo do Coco” by Manu Chão and “Lo Dedo Negro” by Urugauio Eduardo Mateo, the CD stands as a diverse compilation of rhythms and influences: samba-rock, maracatu, reggae, “black music,” Latin and Brazilian music, and other grooves. The group classifies itself as a band of world music, with strong influences from Bob Marley, the Buena Vista Social Club and Brazilian artists such as Jorge Bem Jor, Chico Science, Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil. There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.

1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
