   About Udi Subudi
Udi Subudi's four year stint ran from 1997 to 2001. During that time, they released three CD's, performed live on TV and the radio, and received airplay on over 550 radio stations across the country. The core members of Udi were John Lennartz on vocals, Mark Pierret on drums, and Tom Crowell on guitar. The three of them wrote and recorded their first CD, Hold That Thought, in Mark's basement in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. Once the CD was released, they recruited their first bass player, Andy Blohm. Andy was eventually replaced by Dave Wright. Dave's second gig with the band was a live radio show on WLUM. During this time they had also added a second guitarist, Bruce Troeller. Bruce only stayed with the band for a handful of shows. He eventually moved on to other projects. Udi made their way back to the studio to record their second CD, Won't Let Go, at Studio Z in Milwaukee. It was during these sessions that they added keyboardist, Rick Forkes. They spent the summer of 2000 touring in support of the album. At the end of the summer, Dave decided to move on. Dave was replaced by veteran bassist, Dave Johnson. The end of 2000 was spent writing and recording their third CD, Under The Stone. It was during these sessions that they decided to go in the direction of a harder edged sound with less keyboard, so Rick moved on as well. This album was released at the end of 2000. Instead of touring in support of the new album, the band immediately went back to writing. Uncertain of what direction they wanted to take, the band started losing interest in the project. Dave had a new baby on the way, and he decided to focus on family life. Their last performance was at the Milwaukee music festival, Summerfest, in the summer of 2001. After Dave left, they made one last effort to keep the band alive. They hired longtime friend Rocky Dunst to take over bass duties and continued rehearsing. This line-up never made it to the stage and the band eventually called it quits. John took a break from the music scene. Mark, Tom, and Rocky formed a new band, The Pulltops. They are currently still together. You can learn more about them at www.thepulltops.com. The music of Udi Subudi is still available, and can be purchased at www.cdbaby.com.
