Brian Casey is a Columbus OH based composer, musician, producer, arranger and accompanist. He currently plays with and composes for jazz group Honk Wail and Moan, bop group The Tommy Smith quintet, and folk/alt country duo Casey and Gray (myspace.com/caseyandgray, and on "Ginny" up there in the player). His music has been heard on The Philadelphia International Film Festival, The Wexner Center Silent Film Series, The Southern Thailand Jazz Festival, The St. Petersburg (Russia) Film Festival, and Dance On Camera; at the Kunstlerhaus of Bremen, Dans Werkplaats Amsterdam, The Cunningham Studio, Dance Theater Workshop, and The Knitting Factory in NYC; and on recordings by Honk Wail and Moan, Hipswitch, Mary Adam 12, New Basics Brass Band, Larry and the GrooveChildren, AvantCollective, Rocco DiPietro, The New Bomb Turks, Pica Huss, and Lucey's Maze; and on the Kino Video release of the Paul Robeson silent classic "Body and Soul". Brian's music also plays in his living room, kitchen, car, and head. Trombone, piano, drums, bass, guitar, washboard, zydeco tie, hubcaps, tin cans, baritone horn, and accordian are instruments that have been wielded to varying degrees of success by Mr. Casey, and he takes requests both here online and in person. It is difficult to know what to say other than I am glad I got the privilege to know Brian and got to play his fine creative music.
It was a pleasure always to play music with Brian in Honk, Wail, and Moan. Some of the hardest stuff I've ever had to play and some of the coolest stuff at the same time.
