Organize, Mobilize and Empower the Peace Majority to: end the war in Iraq, prevent any attacks on Iran, and stand up for the rights and dignity of women and immigrants, and all people.
More than 700 actions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia marked the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq. Reports are still coming in, but it is clear that March 19th -- and the whole week of anti-war action -- was historic. Click here to view reports, photos and video from these inspiring actions!
2008 is a critical year in the efforts to bring an end to the war and occupation in Iraq. This is the year the anti-war movement must up the ante, pull out all of the stops and build so much pressure that the war will finally be brought to an end.
United for Peace and Justice is a coalition of more than 1,400 local and national groups throughout the United States who have joined together to protest the immoral and disastrous Iraq War and oppose our government's policy of permanent warfare and empire-building.
We welcome the participation of any and all national, regional and local groups who share our goals and wish to work with others. Those listed below as MySpace friends are not necessarily members of UFPJ. Find a UFPJ member group in your area.
Who I'd like to meet:
All those dedicated to ending the war in Iraq, to bringing all of the troops home now and taking care of them when they get here, and to redirecting the billions spent on war toward the urgent needs at home. Btw, if you're organizing a peace and justice event or action, please post it on our events calendar!

Up high above this Patchwork quilt of green, Echoes of war rhythms march Through cold wind To beats of plastic crackle And credit card machines. Trumpets of war blare As dolls and children burn. We fear the rising price Of eggs and oil While families boil in Flaming pools of blood. Our eager hands purchase Wal-Mart war bonds As moms and dads fly home With flags on top. In desert sand, up high Above the crude The blistered hands of moms And dads work non-stop Giving broken babies Back to God To whom we pray with Bound, bloody hands.

Please take a minute and vote now by clicking on the image below or going to http://houstonpress. com/polls/musicawards08/ Please help spread the word as well. As far as I know, you do not have to be in the Houston Area to vote. We've got a lot of good friends on the ballot, so even if you don't lean our way, it's all good. Come join my cause: Keystone Progress! You will be able to recruit friends, raise money, and add a profile badge to show your support!
Keystone Progress is a multi-issue progressive advocacy organization that combines cutting edge online organizing and communications with rapid and hard-hitting earned media strategies. Year round, Keystone Progress will work to engage citizens from across Pennsylvania around issues of immediate state or local concern.
Our mission is to provide a strong, credible voice in advancing progressive solutions to critical community problems. But we don’t do that on our own – we work as a communications team for the entire progressive community.
We’re a marketing department for progressive ideas – a campaign that never stops. We work year-round to challenge conservative propaganda in the media and make sure that progressive perspectives are heard.
By working together and uniting around issues important to Pennsylvania residents, we will:
* Build a stronger progressive movement in Pennsylvania. We will use innovative, internet-based organizing and communications strategies and tactics to dramatically expand active public support for progressive issues and policies.
* Secure major advances in progressive public policy.
Working with other progressive groups, we will use the power of real people to encourage bold policy changes
