About me:

Firstly and foremostly, C:1 is an underground vinyl dj but also focuses her time and energies in raising awareness within her electronic music community. Keepin busy gigging, creating and promoting events, C:1 cuts it with Detroit Techno and High-tech funk, Ghettotech, hiphop, hip-house and Breakbeats, Minimal Techno to Deep House, old and new styles of Jungle & DnB.


She made a name for herself from September 1996 in the Brisbane deejay circuit playing techno and minimal beats; her debut performance under the pseudonym of Thor at a 4ZzZ benefit gig. Eventually evolving to DjCam, she performed with tech head Strobelight Honey as 4 deck duo Mix N Fx.

Riding the momentum Cam also began a weekly night named Freshcut aimed at new Brisbane dj's to play alongside her and fellow residents that included Cypher who Cam joins behind the decks regularly today in Melbourne. The weekly night continued cam's exposure as a versatile performer, placing her alongside artists such as Spiderbait, Pound System, ChesterBeatty Sonic Animation, Freestylers and Diana Anaid not to mention regular gigs with talented interstate djs plus the local crews.

Prior to her southern enterprise C:1 played regularly as one of the resident djz of Junglettes: the Brisbane based all-girl lineup of drum n bass dj's.

The event was conceived with Kim De La Haye in 2003 as a one-off gig organized for the 2nd straight out of Brisbane music and arts festival. It has since evolved from just a night into a tight crew of local female deejays & mc's who all share a big love of the amen & heavy basslines and celebrated its fantastic 5th year running in November 2008.



In Melbourne C:1 rolls deep with the MoreBass, Bootay, Unity In Sound, Bush, Wobble, and Future Prospects crews.

MoreBass - a music and events production collective. Founded in 2005 by DJs PCP and CuZnMatt, together they started bringing the noise to Melbourne's underground.

Unity In Sound - Proudly presented by Jungle Fever, Collective Force and in collaboration with Pressure Drop; Unity In Sound gathers together on a Saturday night blazin it up with the Natty Sistren Sound at The Laundry Bar in Fitzroy, to roll out the beats across the entire venue, from the early 90's, oldschool and ragga-jungle downstairs on level 1, while the roots crew burn the fires, upstairs on level 2.

Bush - previously named Jungle Fever is the monthly Jungle Massiv proudly presented by Rising Lantern Records and Collective Force at The Laundry Bar - celebrating melbourne jungle and its local players.

Wobble - Melbourne's premier Drum 'n' Bass, Dubstep and Jungle monthly sessions dedicated to bring heavyweight sound to Melbourne. Focused around the Heartical Hi-Fi Sound System - Melbourne's only purpose built Dub/Reggae soundsystem.

Future prospects - created for unearthing new DnB players launched their comeback in 2007.

Keeping true to her roots, C:1 also continues to play her much loved Detroit techno and Ghettotech alongside like-minded players in both Melbourne and Brisbane with regular appearances at Monster Mash in Brisbane - brainchild of MZO, Local Extracts by Soma Corp, Off Beat, Wobble, Morebass and Pretty Simple Saturdays at Ffour - to name a few - and still jumps across music genres today, keeping the spectators jumpin and the heads guessing.
