UGLY ELEPHANT was conceived in the Summer of 2008 by Dave “DJ” Johnson and Chris Hart after a brief conversation during Austin’s famous Spring Birthday Celebration for Eeyor. In 2006-2007 Dave and Chris played in the band Spin Alley together and an instant musical connection and friendship was made. Once their tenure with Spin Alley ended in April 2007, Dave and Chris knew that eventually, they would be playing music together sooner than later. Once Tim Girardot joined the band on Keys, Austin Simmons joined the band on Bass and Ryan Collins joined the band on Sax, Ugly Elephant was created. UGLY ELEPHANT is a powerful collaboration of intense funk grooves, experimental jazz fusion and rock. This band will keep you off your feet hitting your deep in your chest with some nasty funk that will force your body to move to its beat! If you haven’t experienced Ugly Elephant yet, stop cheating yourself and check out a show!
