NEWSFLASH!:2BLU and The Lucky Stiffs win the 2009 Alabama Battle of the Blues Bands!The Band will be representing Alabama in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis this comming winter;stay tuned for updates
2BLU:Together George Dudley and I have been playing and performing in different bands for a combined 60 plus years.Yep,we're dinosaurs-but we can still groove;and groove we must. In that space of time we have been attracted to and influenced by almost every genre you can name;from Muddy Waters to John Mayer. I suppose it is accurate to say we have come back to ground zero-which for us is "the blues" and blues influenced grooves.
1993 2blu(the duo):
George and I met by chance in a coffee shop(Joy's) that my wife and I owned from 1993-1999.I guess you would say it was fate.To make a long story short;we started jamming and writing music at the shop.Folks would come by to hear us there,so it became a venue.I ran out of money and the coffee shop sadly closed-but George and I are still in business. We have been playing and writing together ever since.It's very cool to have this music platform that you can enjoy with a great buddy.When you see us perform,if it looks like we are having a good time-we are!We'd be doing this if nobody was watching. Now...about the Lucky Stiffs:"LUCKY STIFFS";that's what we affectionately call the band when we add Jack Dudley on bass,James Dudley on the drums,and Dave"teeto "Gowens on percussion.
2002
In 2002 we won the Magic City Blues contest WITH OUR BAND THE LUCKY STIFFS and went to Memphis to play in the IBC on Beale.2blu and the Lucky Stiffs have performed in numerous area clubs and Blues Festivals since 2002.Let me add at this point that Warren Martin played guitar and Tim Martin played drums for us when we went to Memphis IN 2002.Warren and Tim were awesome and continue to pursue music in their own bands.
The LuckYStiffs are a essentially a five piece good time,blues based-jam band.The band is driven by a "fusion-funk engine" consistiting of James Dudley on drums,Teeto Gowens on percussion and Jack Dudley on fretless custom made basses.George and I simply stand out front and catch the groove and "ride".The Stiffs are currently recording new projects in Jack's new studio.We'd like to achieve a series of live recordings that "evolve"and we simply distirbute them when we feel they are ready to go out to the masses.
2008
2blu:FINALIST IN Memphis(IBC) in 2008.We went to Beale Street,played Pat O' Brien's twice and managed to earn a slot in the 2008 FINALS of the I.B.C. this year as one of the TOP 6 solo-duo acts out of 60 from around the world!Read more about it in the press releases at www.2blumusic.com

I saw this story and it reminded me of a similar situation with my youngins.
Last week I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!"
Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby I heard a woman remark, "That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice-cream! Why, I never!"
Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, "Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?" As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table.
He winked at my son and said, "I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer. " "Really?" my son asked. "Cross my heart," the man replied. Then in a theatrical whisper he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), "Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes."
Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman;
With a big smile he told her, "Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already."
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The road to Success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.
A love so sacred and divine. A love that I can now call mine. A love so beautiful, real and true. A love like you Lord, a love that is you. A love that nurtures, heals and cares. A love that speaks to me in tenderness and brings me to tears. A love that is free for all to cherish, and given by one so that none should perish. A love that strengthens me, as it draws me towards you. I witness your miracle an am cleansed anew. A love so kind as it fills my mind. I see your light and am no longer blind. A love for all time, a love that is mine. What a pleasure it is Lord, to love only you.
I just had to write to tell you how much I love you and care for you.
Yesterday, I saw you walking and laughing with your friends; I hoped that soon you'd want Me to walk along with you, too. So, I painted you a sunset to close your day and whispered a cool breeze to refresh you. I waited; you never called. I just kept on loving you.
As I watched you fall asleep last night, I wanted so much to touch you. I spilled moonlight onto your face trickling down your cheeks as so many tears have. You didn't even think of me; I wanted so much to comfort you.
The next day I exploded a brilliant sunrise into a glorious morning for you. But you woke up late and rushed off to work-you didn't evennotice.
My sky became cloudy and Mytears were the rain.
I love you! Oh, if you'd only listen. I really love you! I try to say it in the quiet of the green meadow and in the blue sky. The wind whispers My love throughout the treetops and spills it into the vibrant colors of the flowers.
I shout it to you in the thunder of the great waterfalls and composed love songs for birds to sing for you. I warm you with the clothing of My sunshine and perfume the air with nature's sweet scent.
My love for you is deeper than the ocean and greaterthan any need in your heart. If you'd only realize how I care. I died just for you. My Dad sends His love. I want you to meet Him. He cares, too. Fathers are just that way.
So please call Me soon. No matter how long it takes, I'll wait because I love you.
