Earnest, organic, and alluring tales of love. Rumination and a distinct, unrecognizable vocal artistry, combined with harmonica and piano leave the listener falling for something they can't quite put their finger on.

My album can now be purchased at Record Collector, White Rabbit (Linn St.), and the Iowa Artisans Gallery (E. Washington St in Iowa City next to Quintons/Java House/Rag Stock). Click on the store names to be directed to their websites.

--------------About me---------------

I've been performing and writing for about 2 1/2 years now.

I started playing at open mic's at The Mill in Iowa City. David Zollo gave me my first opening acts in the fall of 2007, and I continued to play in venues where I garnered exposure. He then co-produced my album with me during the spring of 2008.

I've been playing all over the state of Iowa, mostly in restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, books stores, drinking establishments, etc...I would like to play for you sometime.

--------------ALBUM INFORMATION-----------------

This album is half band and half acoustic tracks. The lyrics and melodies come from the head of a 20-something year old man searching for self-understanding in the grandeur of a world that is never-ceasing and continuously evolving. This album is the first step in a saga that has no end in sight. The album consists of 10 songs with a hidden acoustic-style version of "The Times" at the close.

Continuing are descriptions of the individual tracks, for your pleasure...
"Rain" opens with drums and harmonica and is sprinkled with light, pattering keys throughout, and is a song recounting a relationship that was not meant to be, but survived for years. "Night Lights" is a light-hearted tale of anticipation of a long awaited summer and the love that was built between two people. "Closer To You" carries a heavier sound than the rest of the album and speaks of leaving behind what must be left in order to move forward with another. "To You" is the only track where the vocals and guitar were recorded simultaneously with 3 open air microphones. It is a song about the arrival of new love and its paramount effects on the spirit. "Alive Inside" pushes on to the last breaking finale of realization and sings of infidelity and the struggle to become a better partner. "Take My Hand" is a longing to understand one's self and the effects of allowing another to aid in the quest. "Wide Awake" was written after many sleepless nights, and, thanks to friend and co-producer David Zollo, is accented with a piano sound both gorgeous and uplifting. "Energy" builds from the start to finish and is sure to make you believe in the great unspoken and unseen radiation from one person to another, the effect of another's inner drive and passion. The idea that 'time' is such an important entity to the modern human is troubling, yet unyielding. "The Times" warns us that we mustn't waste a single minute worrying about trifling, woeful matters in our lives because, let's face it, we aren't going to live forever. "Stars Too" is a tale of a girl so intricate, innocent, and struggling to find herself in the confusing life she leads. The boy struggles to keep up with her unpredictable nature, and in the end, well, does it ever end?

--------------------Reviews--------------------

"First-year UI College of Dentistry student Uker unveils his debut disc "Speaking of Stars," an earnest, organic mix of original folk-rock and ballads co-produced with David Zollo (who adds his dependably gorgeous keys to the project) and engineered by Luke Tweedy at IC's Flat Black Studios. Phrasing and tune constructs often recall early James Taylor."

Anytime my friend. I had a trip planned to Iowa, but then they sent me to Aberdeen. I will probably be up there sometime this summer, and hopefully you can plan a trip south.
Keep me up to date on the latest and greatest.
