Influences
The Ukitopia Festival November 14 and 15 2009 is our next big event.
On the weekend of November 14 and 15 the quiet village of Uki will come to life with the annual Ukitopia Festival. “It’s a celebration of Uki life arts and culture “, Ukitopia Arts Collective President/festival organiser, Natascha Wernick explained.
The Ukitopia festival, in its second year, is a two day event where the whole community gets involved with creating the space and has an opportunity to celebrate its year.
“Last year it was a one day event and the village was absolutely filled to capacity. This year we have extended the festival over two days and with the Uki Public School and The Uki Kids Club: OOSH involved there will be more space, more parking and more children’s and youth activities”.
The festival begins on the Saturday afternoon with live music on the main stage from 3pm and creative community space making including a wishing wall, lantern and flag making. Saturday evening as the day cools the night comes alive with the opening of the Images of Uki art exhibition ( 6pm) , funky dancing music on the main stage, and for those who wish for a quieter evening there will be a concert featuring intimate performances by talented singer songwriters in the historic Anglican church.
On Sunday, the festivities begin at 9am with the Buttery Bazaar Markets, live music on two stages, street performances and Uki’s first “Eco Expo” where local eco businesses promote their businesses in the Uki Public School grounds. There will be creative arts, soccer and “get wet “activities for the kids
This is a free community event organised by the Ukitopia Arts Collective a non-profit organisation. Donation of around $10 will be gratefully accepted at the festival to contribute to the costs.
Ukitopia Arts Collective is an incorporated non-profit organisation founded in 2008.
Our achievements in our first year were impressive: 3 arts events- an Arts dinner, a Youth Arts Dinner and a Ukitopia Celebration- a day of music, dance and theatre; a website currently under construction and a paid membership of 80 people.

Hi Uki Arts Collective, I read your recent 2010 write up in the paper. Well done, you are doing a great thing for the arts there. Would anyone like to download my single "I've Been Around" right now for FREE at www.rayburtonmusic.com ? Yes it's absolutely FREE!
I thought I would also let you now that my new songwriter showcase CD titled
"Blu-Azz" is available from CD Baby. Anyone can buy this CD or singular tracks of it here if they wish: http://cdbaby.com/cd/rayburton or from the CD Baby links on all of my web sites.
I would truly appreciate it if you would let YOUR network of music loving
friends know about these songs via email or however you choose. The simplest way I guess is to just copy and paste this entire message into an email and forward it on to YOUR Northern NSW friends. I have several fiends down there too in Rosebank, Lismore, Kyogle, Byron Bay, Fedral, Bangalow . . . and the list goes on. Northern NSW is my very favourite artistic place and UKI is hight on that list.
Anyway, it would be sooo great if you would spread the word on the Blu-Azz CD for me. Keep me posted on your events.
I hope all is well with you all down there in beautiful Uki.
