VISIT OUR WEBSITE - CLICK HERE

THE UK SONGWRITING CONTEST is an international songwriting event that was formed with The BRIT Trust (of BRIT AWARDS fame) to encourage and promote the art of songwriting. The contest is supported by some of the most highly respected names in music and all entries are carefully examined by experienced industry professionals. Everyone has the chance to get noticed by prominent members of the music community, many of whom follow this event closely. For example, contest winner Natalie Chua was quickly signed by Simon Cowell (see photo) and she went on to receive a Platinum Disc award for sales of over 500,000.

This international event invites entries from all parts of the world. In Europe more songwriters enter the UKSC than the Eurovision Song Contest and many writers from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Asia enter every year. Visit the contest website at songwritingcontest.co.uk for more details.

Here on our myspace site you can check out the writers that enter the UK Songwriting Contest, listen to their songs, network, find collaborators, showcase and promote your work and discuss songwriting. You can be sure that many influential people in the music business also check out this site - especially after the results are published - in the hope of finding new talent to work with.

INTERACT: Check the comments and friends sections below. All the songwriters featured in our Top Friends section are UKSC winners, runners up, finalists or semi finalists. Visit their pages, listen to their music and leave some feedback...

I dropped by to say hi and to listen to some of the winners and finalists.
There are a number of songs in the player and I like all of them. They are all great songs.

What would it be like - This is solid and Sung with brilliance just as are the others I mentioned. You known what folks. This song really grows on you over time. It's a solid pop sung and Well! Worthy of air play. The melody in the sung is very catchy and Mary is one talented songwriter/lyricist. The lyrics are solid. Mary maybe you can post the lyrics on your site. An abslute please to listen too.

Unica  What a great song. Sung so well and absolute a lovely song. What a voice and what a song folks.  Congratulations Ward.

With One Word Alana Grace's  - Her song is fantastic and congrats to her - loved hearing it. She is really something. She rocks and has a great voice.
Everything in this song is catchy, great melody and the vocal performance is second to none. Very gifted artist! Bless You!

I think of you - Man that really something and it reminds me of the great Paul Anka. And a few others come to mind.  Geoffrey Erwin - Great song and congratulations.

Strange Kind Of Love - Very cool.  Great lyrics and the melody and chorus stand out well. I heard the whole thing and loved it. Great melody and ending too.

Well I listened to all of them and think they are all winners and the artists are all super talented. Greta to listen to these songs. Congrats to everyone who entered the contest. Everybody I ever heard here had talent and are inspirational just to listen too.

YOU - By Chantalle Barry and Scott Whyte Ac That one is something special too and man I love it.. Sorry if I can't comment on all of them  but I did hear all of them and found them all to be just awesome song.

Blessings & Congrats to

Hello,

I am so grateful to the UK Songwriting Contest. Since becoming a double finalist in 2009 some really great things have happened. I have had some great exposure. Here is a performance of one of my finalist songs, Bedrock, being performed on a gorgeous Steinway piano at the Victoria Conservatory of Music!

Looking forward to entering for 2010.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say how grateful I am to the UKSC.

The confidence  which I gained getting my two semi-finalist positions spurred me on to start pushing my self promotion and as a result I now have two of my tracks getting airplay in the USA on GHP Radio (though not the UKSC 2009 ones).

This contest works, and I will be back in 2010 to try again.

Regards to all
Brian

Hello everyone!

I've gotten great coverage from my accomplishments in the UKSC this year!! This is awesome! I'm including several links if you wish to check out my progress!

I'm sharing this with the hope and intention of inspiring all you songwriters out there who are reading this to encourage you to tell everyone you can about your accomplishments! You deserve to get recognition for your songwriting! I have been writing for over 20 years and have only put music first in my life very recently. I know it is hard to self promote. But if you feel good about something, the enthusiasm is contagious! Go For IT! What have you got to lose?

And if you are not a songwriter, I encourage you to explore self expression in your own way, whatever way you desire! We all have unique gifts to share with the world and I believe that if everyone is being true to their own gifts and sharing them with the world around them, the world will transform and become an amazingly awesome place for everyone to live and thrive and have all they need for health and happiness!

Here is what has happened so far because I was willing to share my excitement at my accomplishments in this international contest!

Of the three songs I submitted one is a finalist and the other two are semi-finalists!!! This achievement has given me the courage to go out and promote my music more enthusiastically and is helping me with my lifelong dream of sharing my music with the world!

I'm over the moon excited and howling a loud wolflady HOOOOWWWLLLL
of gratitude and enthusiasm !!!

My local paper in Talent, Oregon, The Talent News & Review, published the following headline in the October edition on the top of page 3. They don't have an online version. So here it is:

"Talent Songwriter Howls Her Way to International Acclaim"
All three of Talent Resident Bridget Wolf's songs that she entered in the UK Songwriting Contest placed high in the results that were announced Sept. 9, 2009. She was awarded a certificate for her position as Finalist in the Instrumental category for her piano solo "I'll Never Forget You." Finalist position means that her piano solo ranked in the top 2% of almost 6,000 entries. Bridget earned semi-finalist recognition for the other two songs she submitted. "Let's Make the Difference" made it to semi-finalist position in the Adult Contemporary category. Her song "Life is Precious" made it to semi-finalist position in the Christian / Faith category. Semi-finalist position means these two songs ranked in the top 30%. For more information from the Web site go to http://www.songwritingcontest.co.uk/
Bridget will perform the three songs along with other original songs at her "Celebration Concert" from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 11 at the Anjou Clubhouse located at 100 N. Pacific Hwy. Meet and greet the songwriter from 3-4 p.m. and from 6-7 p.m. just after the concert. Fans describe her music as encouraging, empowering and uplifting. Her songs "Healing Time" was published in "Songs for Peace" magazine. Bridget has written over 100 songs. Admission to the event is free and donations are appreciated. Refreshments will be served.

Hi, Great to see this site.  Thank you for joining us as friends. We had  two songs in the semi finals in the 2008 contest, Arm In Arm and Love's Theme, but sadly we didn't enter the contest in the 2009, but we will be right in there for 2010.

Planning to get the sounds on the site. Been planning for a while, just as soon as I've been to work, mowed those lawns, fixed those kids bikes, sent all those birthday cards, paid the bills, washed the car, had my haircut, .... :-)))
