MySpace a place for friends

Launched in 2000 with the express purpose of promoting the underground scene (at the time) by trying our best to drag it above ground, UM.com has grown to not only be a comprehensive 'zine, covering all corners of the metal genre spectrum, but also one of the largest metal/music communities online. We are a sizeable online metal community and webzine. Our forum has over 80,000 members, and hosts official boards for bands such as Opeth, Katatonia, Nevermore, and Anthrax, to name a few. The webzine section features reviews (over 2600 and counting), and interviews (150+), as well as unsigned spotlights - features to promote up-and-coming independent music, regular columns and more.

We update almost daily, and we're always happy to hear feedback as well as suggestions.

Doing what little one can to increase the general stock of knowledge is as respectable an object of life, as one can in any likelihood pursue. Charles Darwin was born 250 years ago last month, so now would seem an apt time to steal some of his words of wisdom. He once said “A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” We agree, and while things have seemingly been quiet at UM HQ lately, we certainly haven't been wasting our time - just lacking some spare to post what's been going on! New interviews have been posted with Scottish pirate-metallers Alestorm, the recently revived Pestilence, US deathcore troupe All Shall Perish, and Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) and Southern Lord Records. As ever you can find lots more new stuff in our reviews, live reviews and non-metal reviews sections, as well as all the latest metal news.
