In 2001 David Vega and Helder Achata met at frequent local parties and night clubs of the New Wave scene in Lima; Helder has participated as a singer in several rock bands before Ultimo Misterio; He was Looking a guy who knows about computer and softsynths in order to create an electronic pop sound influenced by classic synthpop bands like Schneebezen, Depeche Mode, Cause & Effect, Camouflage, Red Flag, De/Vision, Elegant Machinery etc.
After trying hard, the things were not going well, because the vocal register of Helder wasn't compatible very much with the music style that they were creating until that time. It is in that moment when Helder decided to call his college friend Omar Zurita, who also liked to sing and had a good voice very suitable for synthpop by the way.
So in that year they called the project "Ultimo Misterio" (The Last Mystery) and they had their first chance to play covers of songs from Depeche Mode, Soft Cell, Visage, OBK, Moenia and the first songs "Lagrimas" and "Pensare".
In 2003 Marko Delgado started to works with UM in the first CD called ESPECTROINMORAL which was released in 2004 including the first single "El Portal" and the second single "Placer Artificial".
Suddenly many chances to perform appeared in places like Bauhaus Discotheque or Comunidad Oscura, on consequence at the end of 2004 Ultimo Misterio was named the best Synthpop act by the radio show 2001 hosting by Helen Ramos in Radio Miraflores.
In May of 2005 Helder Achata decided to leave the band to start a project of his own.
These days Ultimo Misterio is working on their second album with the collaboration of the musician Julio Alcca. They already released the first single called "La Sombra" which everyone can listen and download from their myspace, and the second single this time in english, the song called "Alone".
The continuous growth of their fan base around Perú and south america provides Ultimo Misterio to keep working on a second album, exploring subjects like love and disappointment, light and darkness and all that can inspire them in their music, the name of the second Album is Andromeda and will be released very soon.
