   About Sun House

Please visit this link and help SUN HOUSE win some loot from Myspace!

Sun House plays Betty's Rock Club, 7/11/08. Song: 'Wait So Long'

Sun House plays music that moves effortlessly from rock to soul, funk to reggae, latin to blues and back again. There is only one requirement for a Sun House song: that it be honest.

Lead singer Douglas Price and guitarist Josh Garey have been friends since grammar school, and yet they have traveled very different paths to reach this point. After high school they formed a band called Private Culture, which played the local Bay Area scene for three years, doing gigs with bands such as No Doubt and Primus. Private Culture’s trumpet player, Stephen Bradley, went on to join No Doubt and later Gwen Stefani’s solo band to tour the world countless times over.

After Private Culture disbanded, Douglas spent several years as a vocal soloist for the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, headlining places like Slim’s and the Paramount Theater in Oakland. Josh spent many years writing, recording and performing with Comfy Chair, “The World’s Last – and First – Time Traveling Vaudevillian Band”, playing such venerable establishments as the Great American Music Hall, the Viper Room and the Whiskey a Go-Go. Comfy Chair also licensed a song to Elektra Records for a new-swing compilation called ‘Jump Up and Boogie’ which featured the Brian Setzer Orchestra. In addition, Josh spent about a year and a half touring and performing as lead guitarist for San Francisco's legendary Gun and Doll Show.

Ready to return to their roots, Josh & Doug formed Sun House in December 2006, and with the help of Stephen Bradley and his partner, ace musician and producer Dave Tweedie they recorded their first album together in over a decade.

‘Ushu Ones’, Sun House’s debut, is a trip both into the past as well as the future. The record features Douglas & Josh as well as an A-list of Bay Area talent: Joel Griffin on drums (Zoe Ellis, Shana Morrison), Stephen Bradley on trumpet (No Doubt, Gwen Stefani), Julia Bordenaro on backing vocals (Vocolot) and ivory giant Jerome Rossen playing keys, among others. The live band often features another childhood friend, Dustin Hengl of American legend Willie Nelson’s band on trumpet.

Sun House is dedicated to making music that moves the body, mind and spirit. We hope you enjoy their Rock & Soul for the People.

Hey ... The Oakland Tribune says:

YOGA MONK & SONGWRITER TO PERFORM

Yoga monk-musician Dada Nabhaniilananda of Los Altos and songwriter Steve Taylor-Ramírez of Berkeley will do a concert together next week. Nabhaniilananda, who plays spiritual eco-folk in a style evoking Cat Stevens and Donovan, and Taylor-Ramírez, who describes his musical style as socially conscious, Latin-infused neo-folk, will play at 7 p.m. June 7 at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley.

The center is located at 3105 Shattuck Ave. Tickets are $14 in advance, $16 at the door. For tickets and information go to www.lapena.org/event/1113 or call 510-849-2568.

It would be much appreciated if you would consider placing us on your top friends list. If you have lots of friends you can search for us. Go to Change my Top Friends and paste in Musicians for Peace in the "Quick Find " dialog box.

BTW, we are joining with people from all over the world to help make the 40th anniversary of Woodstock a true celebration of peace and love through music and collaboration. Please check out our page at http://passion.edu/elearn/mod/resource/view.php?id=1712

Our 40th Anniversary of Woodstock Concert, produced by WoodFest Productions in association with Musicians for Peace, will be a 3-day outdoor festival at the 60 acre Washita Hideaway in Davis, OK. It will have some of the hottest tribute bands around and happens August 14-16, the same weekend as the original festival. This project stems from the vision to play tribute to both the pure love of music and to the artists, producers and concert goers that together made Woodstock the historic and cultural event it was then and will be for generations to come. Please see www.myspace.com/woodfest09

We are also doing a butterfly release at Woodstock West Fest in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park planned for Sunday, October 25, 2009. Our members are doing the Green Zone there and interested vendors and sponsors should contact me at bflyspirit8@aol.com Please also see the producers page
