Check it out, and if you dig it then holler at me and i'll send you a copy of my unreleased LP "FRIDAY". (you see, it should have been released many months ago - but due to the label running out of money, I have no way of releasing it in the manner that I want... so I'm waiting, and only giving it to those who ask nicely. posted 11/6/09.)
Zachary Ulysses Campbell Wilson is a product of the DIY generation and proud of it. He records primarily on an 8 track, edits with freeware, and plays shows whenever a party is happening. Sometimes there may be two other guys playing with him, sometimes it’s just Ulysses Campbell solo - but it’s always high energy; which in itself mirrors the frantic style of Ulysses Campbell. While maintaining basic pop instincts, Ulysses whirls through an ever changing thrash of electro, drum n bass, 8-bit, dub step, and all around ill beats.
He grew up playing piano, guitar and always singing. Idolizing artists like The Beatles and The Beach Boys at a young age, Ulysses also grew up enjoying Jock Jams and awesome 90’s techno. He always knew he wanted to be a part of music and pop culture, but could have never predicted such an ascent into electronica. Having no real formal lessons, Ulysses taught himself how to play music.
Previous recording experience started as young as 13 when he would videotape himself playing guitar and singing, load it onto a computer, delete the video track and export the audio. Such low-fi tactics further fed the desire to create songs and by age 16, Ulysses Campbell was signed to Red Fez Records (under a different name) and in a professional studio. This would only be temporary though because he went to boarding school (Buxton school, where in fact Sufjan Stevens had done a previous recording in the campus studio).
Emerging from Buxton School at age 19, Ulysses Campbell entered the studio again on his own dollar. What procured was a less of a demo, but more of a realization – the only way he was going to get the music from his head onto a recording was if he produced it himself.
Years later - Ulysses Campbell is 23. He’s been recording on an 8 track since his freshman year, and is a master of editing with freeware. His inspirations range from Lil’ Wayne to Panda Bear, and he’s confident that he’ll be playing with the likes of them within a few years. He’s graduating this spring and planning on touring afterwards, hoping in the future to collaborate with electro, hip hop and pop artists. Currently Ulysses Campbell is working on a new EP, and playing as many shows as possible. Harnessing both vintage and state of the art technology, Ulysses Campbell is dedicated to the musical revolution by offering all his works for free online. With four self-released electronica albums under his belt it’s only a matter of time before he holds a common place amongst pop culture and music history.

Hope you are keeping well. Thought you might want to hear a new version of 'Playground' which has been recorded by one of my MySpace friends Alex Life (you can find him in my top friends). He's done a great job of the song and put it in a completely new perspective. I love his version - I hope you do too.
