Umbra Momenti tiene sus raíces en Los Mochis Sinaloa donde el guitarrista (Ernesto Conde) y la vocal (Gabriela Meza) estaban en un proyecto power progresivo llamado "Hercólubus". Dos años después ambos se mudan a la ciudad de Guadalajara Jalisco donde conocen al pianista Rafael Vazquez y al baterista Oscar Muro y deciden formar un proyecto con tintes de diferentes géneros e influencias como lo son power metal , gothic, progressive, entre otros dando como resultado "Umbra Momenti", que nace como tal en Octubre del 2008. A raíz de esta unión se graba el primer demo de dos canciones, "falling" y "circus pet".
