The Umbrella Factory is a steadily growing organisation of artists
of various disciplines and backgrounds: poets, painters, illustrators, bands,
sculptors, DJs and animators to
name a few. Umbrella Factory events
are held every month from July at
The Hub in Exeter.
History:
The Umbrella Factory was conceived during
the otherwise inconsequential Summer of 2007. We felt
Exeter needed a more diversive event of obscure yet
accessible art and music and , following recovery from
hangovers, secured The first Umbrella Factory evening at
The Exeter Picturehouse. We then continued the train of
events at The City Gate Cellar Bar - an underground
dwelling reminiscent of Parisian drinking haunts.
Following many successful showcases, we decided to leave
and set up shop at The Hub. We now have a free drinks tab
and a place to call home. Delightful.
Click on a poster to direct you to photos from each event.
Dates/Events: Exeter Thursday July 31st at The Hub Thursday Aug 28th at The Hub

Hey The Umbrella Factory I'm now on iLike! Maybe you might like to join iLike too - it's another great way to share your music with the world!! Hope to hear from you again soon! Best wishes, Jules X
Members of Rising Tide Plymouth/Anarcho Folko have gone and got themselves in court after a rather jolly protest against E$$O, now we need your support (and cash!). Should be a great gig including the first performance from No World Borders (members of Anarcho Folko, The Directors, Collective Responsibility) and two hours of dubstep DJing from DSM, so get your electro-skanking booties on and come down!
Hi, thanks for the add, I would LOVE to play sometime! I haven't checked this thing in a while, otherwise I'd have been up for the 22nd. But let me know and we'll see what we can sort out. All the best, Ben
Just want to give a big shout out and a warm hug to everyone whom came and made the UF such an enjoyable night last night, it really is becoming one of the most forward thinking nights in Exeter, and I can’t wait for the next, Much love to all. XXX
Hello! The next Hoodoo is on Saturday 24th May @ the voodoo lounge. 9.30pm-4am. £4 (£3 if you come dressed in white as this will pick up the projections well). A quirky mix of dubstep, minimal techno and electronica brought to you by DSM, Necta Selecta, 3DJ, Shibby Shitegeist, Tom Ellis, The Presence and Nanobot. Live visuals by V-lux and Kymatica using multi-screen projections. Hope to see you there! x

Wow the narrator is quite possibly the dullest monotone woman i have ever heard! The only point she seems to be making is that people can't wait to get homw from work- it aint rocket science! Great video though, goes well with mr waits playing at the same time!! xxx ps can you message me the new log in, as i can't change anything now! x
the factory has a strange musty smell about it, have you guys been cleaning it or have you been playing hide and seek in amongst the machinery instead? Ummm.....I wonder.............. ;0p
Thanks, I think 'seven' is quite groovy, was going for velvet underground feel.Had to put myfoot down and restrict matt to 2 chords. and the guitar should have been mixed louder! Will load it up on my site in the next week or so...
Hi Phil. Tis Woodsy, many thanks for giving me the opportunity to play at your extremley extraordinary excellent evening! Would like to you people know we have an equally extremley extraordinary excellent evening on the 18th dec at the hub...some seriously good bands playing! Have a look at www.blueonionmusic.co.uk. Thanks!
hi! good to get some feedback. no i haven't done any readings as of yet. i was intrigued by your friendship request though. i'm on a scary little hiatus (not writer's block exactly, more writer's apathy) which will hopefully end soon! i have other pieces, shorter, that could possibly suit such a thing though.
buried deep in my blog is a snippet from the book and also a burroughs-esque piece i wrote at something like 2 in the morning. you have to dig through a number of boredom-born album reviews to find them though...
Thanks Sez.
