About me: My name is Una. It has been suggested that my middle name should be 'Danger Bay'. I'm a journalist. I spend most of my time writing, thinking about stuff to write, coming up with ideas for TV shows that will make me a millionaire, listening to music, going to gigs, clubs, pubs and festivals with my mates, consuming cocktails, taking advantage of cheap travel around Europe, trying to learn as much as possible and trying new beers. The most important things in my life are family, friends, music, unplanned excursions and Krispy Kreme original glazed. I am obsessed with punctuality and I don't like people touching my lower arms. I like drawing with black ink, big sunglasses, skateboard videos, stationary shops, tattoos, novelty mugs, guitar solos, small rowdy clubs, big rowdy parties, the underdog, converse, chaos, life underwater, hats, and having written. I write for The Sunday Tribune. I talk about the Internet on Phantom FM on Wednesdays. I have a blog called 'UnaRocks', keep up to date with my ramblings here. I am in a band called MeNoFemBo. I help run and DJ at a weekly indie evening club in Spy on South William St, Dublin 2 called SoundCheck.
Who I'd like to meet: The cast of The L Word, Courtney, Cantona, Angelina, Osama, the Z Boys, serial killers, a publisher who wants to give me loads of money for writing a book about beer, a talking monkey, drunk rich people.
Post-punk power trio Autoban bring their
fusion of guitar-hookery, punchy rhythms and stiletto-sharp lyrics to
the Academy II on December 5 for their inaugural 'Mad Hatter's Ball'.
Bowler, Beret or Beer Hat; Fedora, Fez,
Tribly or Top Hat, the possibilities are endless. So get your Thinking
Cap on and dig out your finest for a hat-tastic night of dirty dancing.
Hats are compulsory, dissidents will be shamed and ladies can
accessorize, obviously.
Support on the night comes from a motley crew of Dublin's finest party djs. Check myspace.com/autoban for details.
New free Herv digital album out now on Cock Rock Disco!
Hi there,
Just a quick note to let you know that I have a new free digital release out now on Cock Rock Disco if you would like to take a listen.
Heres what label owner Jason Forrest / Dj Donna Summer had to say!
Herv: "Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..."
"Ireland's sexiest laptopper lands his latest mini-album on Cock Rock Disco! "Not figuratively, but literally in love with Music..." is a rave inspired experimental break-acid-core thrill ride of endless ideas and possibilities. Herv packs a lot into the 8 tracks; melodies evolve and twist, beats fracture and congeal and synths collide! It's exciting! But that's not all, it comes with 2 cd designs and a freakin A0 sized poster! Whoa! Can't beat the value in that!"
Michael Brunnock will be performing with his Irish Band "Little Palace" November 5th 8pm Whelans, Dublin November 7th 9pm Headfort Arms, Kells, Co. Meath November 12th 8pm The Backroom, Navan, Co. It is my pleasure to announce that I shall be opening for Von Shakes at the Academy 2 (Middle Abbey Street), Dublin, Ireland this Friday October 9th at 8pm. Von Shakes will be releasing their new single on the night & you should definitely check these guys out!
Finally we are ready
to come out of our cocoon and release our first full length recording called
Moonlit Numina. It will be released the 3rd of October 2009. But in the
meantime you can listen to the three songs appearing on The Moonlit Single.
Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.
International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.
Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.
