Traditional Latin Mass Report: Huntsville, Alabama (Sunday, February 10, 2008)
Psallite Domino, sancti ejus! Hundreds of faithful assisted at Huntsville’s second Tridentine Mass, offered by Una Voce Northern Alabama chaplain, Fr. Alan Mackey. Holy Mass was celebrated at the beautiful Saint Mary of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Huntsville’s city center. After learning of the overwhelming number of the faithful there attached to this Rite of Mass, His Excellency, Robert J. Baker, wrote to Una Voce that he is “very happy that this Mass has brought such joy to so many devoted Catholics.” We in northern Alabama continue to extend our warmest thanks to Bishop Baker for his support. Holy Mass in the Extraordinary Rite is now a permanent part of the spiritual lives of Roman Catholics in both Birmingham and Huntsville, Alabama.------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bishop Baker has expressed his desire that the Extraordinary Form of the Mass be offered with regularity throughout the diocese. Fr. Alan Mackey (who offers the Latin Mass each Sunday in Jacksonville, AL) has been commissioned to head this initiative. A spiritual talk and question and answer session will be held after the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on each of the Sunday Masses listed above.
------------------------------------------------------------
Holy Mass and spiritual talk held this Saturday, December 8th, again at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, and we have been given Bishop Baker’s support and blessing to invite Rev. Fr. Joseph Lee, of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter to offer a Low Mass and deliver a short spiritual talk on the topic of Immaculate Conception. This invitation comes a bit late because we have been waiting for Bishop Baker’s final approval. The Mass fulfils your obligation, and what a blessing to celebrate this wonderful feast in such a wonderful church, and with the wonderful Traditional Latin Rite. Holy Mass will be offered at 11:00 am, followed directly by Fr. Lee’s talk. If you haven’t attended an Una Voce event before, please come and meet Fr. Lee and the officers of the Northern Alabama chapter. Wishing all of Our Lady’s patronage as we approach the feast of her Immaculate Conception!

UNA VOCE HOLY MASS AND MEETING NEWS, DECEMBER 8, 2007
Una Voce Northern Alabama sponsored the celebration of Holy Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Lee of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter offered Mass at the spectacular high altar, and then gave a conference on the meaning and benefits of holy silence. Our chapter has grown significantly: around sixty faithful attended this month’s Mass and meeting. The chapter officers and Fr. Lee had lunch together afterward to discuss developments in our diocese and throughout the world after the release of the Holy Father’s Summorum Pontificum. We continue to pray for a wider use of the Extraordinary Rite (Tridentine) of Holy Mass, and remain grateful for the support of Pope Benedict XVI and the increasing number of bishops who are generously promoting the Latin Mass and Sacraments according to the 1962 missal and rites. Deo gratias!

Here too is an excerpt from their site in the words of Pope Benedict XVI:
"The International Una Voce Federation has played an important role in supporting the use of the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal in obedience to the directives of the Holy See. For this valuable service I express my gratitude to the members of the Federation and extend my blessing."
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, speaking to the Una Voce Federation, 25 July 1996.
Event: Solemn High Mass Location: Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Hanceville, AL Date: Saturday, December 15 Time: 7:00 am
The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP) will offer a Solemn High Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary this Saturday, December 15, at 7 o'clock in the morning at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville. We encourage everyone in the northern Alabama area to attend this beautiful liturgy. The High Mass is perhaps the best way to introduce people to the Tridentine Rite. Sometimes called the "Thousand Candle Mass," this particular Mass on Saturday is a Rorate Mass, offered during Lent in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with many candles being lit in the church. The Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration will be singing the propers of the Mass. The Mass will be carried live by EWTN on television, radio, and streaming on the Internet ( http://www.ewtn.com ). The Main Church will surely be full for this event, so arrive early for a spot in the pews.
For more information: Visit this FSSP news link: http://www.fssp.com/main/News071108.htm Information on the Shrine: http://www.olamshrine.com/shrine_pilgrimages.html P.S. All this week, several priests and deacons from the Fraternity at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville taping a training video for priests on how to offer Low Mass. EWTN is producing the project. Please pray for the priests, the crew, and the success of the project.
Canticle of Brother Sun
Most High Almighty Good Lord, Yours are praise, glory, honor and all blessings; To You alone! Most High, do they belong, and no man is worthy of speaking Your Name!
Be praised, Lord, with all Your creatures, and above all our Brother Sun, who gives us the day by which You light our way, and who is beautiful, radiant and with his great splendor is a symbol to us of You, O Most High!
And be praised, Lord, for our Sister Moon and the Stars. You created them in the heavens bright, precious and beautiful!
And be praised, Lord, for our Brother the Wind and for the air and the clouds and for fair weather and for all other through which You sustain Your creatures.
And be praised, Lord, for our Sister Water, so useful, and humble, and chaste!
And be praised, my Lord, for our Brother Fire, through whom You light up the night and who is handsome, joyful, robust, and strong!
And be praised, my Lord, for our Sister, Mother Earth, who supports and carries us and produces the diverse fruits and colorful flowers and trees!
Praise and bless the Lord and give thanks to Him and serve Him with great humility!
Be praised, my Lord, for our Sister, bodily Death from whom no living man can escape!
Woe only to those who die in mortal sin; but blessed are those who have done Your most holy will; for the second death can cause them no harm!
Saint Francis of Assisi
Wow! We just had a Tridentine Mass offered by Fr. Alan Mackey from the Diocese of Birmingham -- it was awesome. Some 30 or so people (mostly University of Alabama students) in the historic St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Tuscaloosa. Deo Gratias!
