    Mark's Interests
GeneralTheater, the Internet, TV, the media, pop music.
MusicI am disgustingly catholic in my music tastes, with the possible exceptions of heavy metal, hardcore punk, nasty hip-hop and a lot of classical (even though I respect it). I'm also a straight man who loves musical theater and cabaret. Yes, they do exist.
Movies"Hairspray" was so much fun. So was "The Simpsons Movie."
TelevisionI'm a hopeless sucker for game shows and some reality competition shows. Yes, including "The Amazing Race." I also like "30 Rock," "The Sopranos," "Extras," "Mad Men," "Slings and Arrows" and "Shootout." I think I'm getting to like "Pushing Daisies" (any show that lets Kristen Chenoweth sing I have to like...)
BooksDon't read bound paper very much these days, but when I do, it's usually non-fiction and biographies.
HeroesMonday night on NBC--OK, I'm kidding, but this is such a hard category to fill out. Let's just say that Keith Olbermann's commentary, Jess Godwin or Keely Nicole Busteed's voice and Toni Collette on the screen can generally make me very happy. And Rachel McAdams is so damn adorable.

Wanted to let you know about a one man show we have at the Lakeshore Theater this weekend Man 1 Bank 0. A TRUE story. Patrick Combs deposited a junk-mail check for $95,000 as a joke...it cashed! The bank demanded the money back. The rest is history. Its a great story and an interesting and really funny show. Check out more at my profile or site at www.LakeshoreTheater.com. Hope to see you there.

The reviews are in:

"Backed by moody live music, the outstanding ensemble cast brings the play to life with a grim reality that enhances Shepard's precise, intelligent writing" ~ Chicago Sun Times - Highly Recommended

"The production is typical Strawdog: nimble and razor-sharp with a tight ensemble capable of articulating Shepard's tightly wound characters." ~ Daily Hearld - Highly Recommended

"Nic Dimond's careful direction of an outstanding cast nails Shepard's inimitably American poetry, backed by an impeccably modulated live band." ~ Time Out Chicago - Recommended, Critic's Pick

"...their carefully styled performances make for an engaging, well-paced two hours." ~ Chicago Reader - Recommended
