There are just too many, but at the end I'd have to mention people like The Beatles & Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, U2, Pink Floyd. Just to name a few. There are so many more!
Uncas Rydén is a singer/songwriter based in Göteborg, Sweden. He’s been making music in various forms for the past twenty years, both individually and with different groups and musicians. One of his most long-standing musical relationships is that with musician, songwriter and producer (as well as very good friend for some thirty years) Staffan Ericson. The songs on this site are the result of a productive cooperation between the two going back to 2005.
Let's start from the rear: the last track, I’ve got to leave the party, is a brand new production, recorded in Staffan Ericson’s flat using Cubase SX3. (And, as Staffan puts it, ”a lot of hokus pokus!”) It’s quite a traditional popsong, dealing with the need to break up and move on when you’ve got stuck in nomansland. Words and music are written by Uncas Rydén, and the track was recorded, produced and engineered by Staffan Ericson. The song includes: lead vocals, lead and rythm guitar – Uncas Rydén. Backing vocals, guitars, strings and drum programming, synthesizer – Staffan Ericson. Bass guitar, intro organ – Mathias ”Gian” Kündig. I’ve got to leave the party is the first of a number of songs that Rydén and Ericson intend to record in the near future. So if you like what you’re hearing, check out this My Space site for new entries from time to time!
The first song listed here, Ember & Ash, might actually be one of the three acoustic ones also featured on this site. They were recorded in Staffan Ericson’s kitchen as somewhat of a conceptual experiment, using only one microphone to record both guitar and vocals in one take. Robert Johnson style, so to speak. All in all, eleven songs were recorded for Uncas Rydén’s first solo album, conveniently named In the kitchen. The following tracks, Holly Golightly and Christina are also featured on this album. The last track on this record (not featured here) also included guest appearances by Ericson and bass player Gian Kündig, all gathered round the kitchen table to provide improvised backing vocals, still using one mic! The song’s name? I’ll take a dump for you. Maybe we should have recorded that one in the bathroom instead…
Uncas Rydén and Gian Kündig also go back a long time, Gian having formed an essential part of the band Uncas Tribe for almost fifteen years. Together with drummer Daniel Gibson and guitarist Henrik Pilquist, the Uncas Tribe are currently working with recording a number of tracks themselves. Within a couple of months they will hopefully have their own My Space site. Check out this site for details and updates.
