As a musician, the music industry has always captivated Lisa’s attention, especially in the field of media journalism and the art of writing music editorials and reviews. When asked the question why write about music, Lisa’s response is “What better way to develop one’s literacy skills than through the art of interpreting the sound of music into words”. By creating this interactive website about undiscovered musical talent, Lisa’s goal is to become an activate participate in a media literacy awareness program where the goal is to encourage and mentor people of a young age to write, read and develop critical thinking skills.
Our mission at Uncharted Sounds Inc. has a two fold objective: First, is to tap into the young minds of today and tomorrow by empowering them to research the trends and themes that are prevalent in the Canadian Music industry’s undiscovered musical talents. Second, is unveiling undiscovered Canadian musical talent in all genres, through the means of the student’s written reviews and online broadcasts on unconventional/alternative music venues that would normally not be published in a high profile or mainstream music magazine or web based publication.
Our internship program at Uncharted Sounds Inc. will offer motivated high school and post secondary students who are passionate about media literacy/journalism, a forum to gain real business experience by empowering them to analyze the music industry through various periodicals and write about them outside the classroom. All original articles that will be composed and written by the students will be submitted and available on the internet as a monthly magazine publication at www.unchartedsounds.com.
A final thought…There is an abundance of under represented musical talent that are struggling with the high cost of self promotional marketing and recording production. Unchartedsounds.com will give musicians a chance to showcase their music and the viewing audience to discover their talent.
