Interests

Songwriting, singing & making music, & enjoying music, whenever, wherever, however but best of all with friends and loved ones. For me, making music is all about the song. A great song to me is one that immediately touches something inside and stays there forever. It can be the lyric, the melody, the arrangement, the performance that make it great, but when they all happen together; WOW!! I'm an intense Yankee fan, but as such, please don't talk to me about them until Spring. I love puns that punish; groans for groan-ups. I've been cultivating a rep as a local shaggy dog-star of Sirius wordplay. Reasons why are still nebulous to me. I love country road trips, camping, hiking, reading: esp. good sci-fi novels,& books on early civilization (partic. Mayan and Anasazi)archaeology, & pre-history; aviation & space exploration, planetary astronomy & cosmology. I miss Isaac Asimov and Carl Sagan.

  • Movies

Not a 'buff' really but I enjoy them when I can. Faves include: Gone with the Wind; Magnificent Seven; Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid; most Hitchcock flicks; High Noon; Pride of the Yankees; Casablanca; The Godfather; all Marx Bros and W.C. Fields classics; 2001: A Space Odyssey; Good Fellas; Pulp Fiction; Grapes of Wrath; Brother Where Art Thou; I've seen so many good ones but I hardly ever watch one twice so they fade quickly from both of my too-selective little memory cells.
  • Television

Watch much less than I used to but my faves include Any & all Yankee Games; The Simpsons; The Avengers (w/ Mrs Peele of course); Jeopardy; The Sopranos; 60 Minutes; The NewsHour w/ Jim Lehrer; Seinfeld; Star Trek - Original series & Next Generation; Monty Python; old Masterpiece Theatre series; Fawlty Towers; Twilight Zone; Who remembers: Kukla, Fran, & Ollie?
  • Books

Some Favorite Authors: John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, JRR Tolkien, Robert Heinlein, Aldous Huxley, Robert Silverberg, Orson Scott Card, Geoffrey Chaucer, Brian Aldiss, Spider Robinson, Neil Gaiman, Jack McDevitt ... many many others of the Sci Fi Grand Masters, Hugo & Nebula winners... Non-fiction faves include: The Natural Depth of Man by Jesse Stearn; Survival with Style by Bradford Angiers; ....................... I don't read fast but I read news most every day online and/or in print. I try to vary my sources to stay objective. .............. I'm a believer that the world would be better if only people read more. Read to your kids. Give books to your friends. Read more yourself to become more aware, to explore, to escape for abit, to relax.
  • Heroes

My greatest hero is my wife Mary Jo who saved my life getting me rescued from a rip current seriously carrying me to Portugal, then keeping a hammerlock on my heart thru a nasty quad-bypass dealy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Other heroes: Earliest ones were The Lone Ranger (& Tonto),Superman, Hopalong Cassidy, Mickey Mantle, Buddy Holly. Later: Soupy Sales, W.C. Fields, Harry Nilsson, Jim Ringer, Hoyt Axton, George Harrison, Bernie Williams. Too many musical heroes to mention - Check out my Myspace friends and you'll see most of 'em. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .... Of course, besides Mary Jo, my all-time greatest heroes will always be my Mom, my Dad, and Grandma. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” ~ Joseph Campbell ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I said, I've had many heroes in my life. And I'm oh so grateful to all of 'em.

About me:

I love my wife, my children & everyone in my family, my wonderful friends, music of all kinds, and kind, thoughtful words. I believe in building bridges between people, not walls. Happiness results from a decision to be happy. ~~~ I'm the luckiest guy I know for too many reasons to list, but too few not to remind myself of them ...often. That's all I need to remember. ~~~ I believe we must all work to bring Peace to the world, and as Pope Paul VI said: "If you want Peace, work for Justice".

Who I'd like to meet:

I have so many old friends I'd like to meet up with again, and I've started to "re-acqauint" with some of them recently and that's very exciting. I always like to meet new folks with similar interests, but tend to keep them at arm's length for awhile until friendship happens on its own. It doesn't take much to break the barrier. Please try & I will too. I'm very attracted to people who approach each day with gusto, enthusiasm, and good-natured audacity. Probably because when I'm around them I keep hoping it rubs off on me. .. .. .. .. ..
