Born from the ashes of the successful Brighton based band
august, three of the founding members of this earlier
union have reformed with a new, fourth member -
songwriter, drummer, guitarist, singer, producer and donner shaver, Vernon Asbury to create an all new sound in this latest
incarnation, Uncle Arthur. With influences ranging
from Fairport Convention right through to Husker Du,
Uncle Arthur have taken strong melodies, often with
roots based firmly in the world of folk rock (although they have been known to drift into the dangerous arena of cock rock), and
allowed imagination to take its natural course. The results of this combination have
proved to be as varied as they have emotive, with
effects ranging from reggae to psychadelia, and all
with heartfelt lyrics thrown in for good measure. Two members are vegetarian and two are rather partial to black pudding.
