   About uncle black
Uncle Black formed around the duo of Les King and Mike Aldridge. They have been recording on Backwater Records, a UK Independent releasing an eclectic mix of folk, country and prog-rock! since 2002

Musically it veers from upbeat , almost pop to darker, more reflective numbers; Losingtoday.com called clock prison sapping, but gem-like a contradiction which in part sums the music up.

We recently finished our second album

This feels like the record we set out to make.

Hey there, hope all is fine and dandy.

Just a wee reminder that it's our Psychedelic DJ Shindig this Friday night (July 3rd), in Ronnie's Room, PJ McGintys in Ipswich!

DJs Mindos, Sparrowhawk and Mr O spinning the good time vibes, cosmic clouds and acid freak belters.

Come on down, come, come!

And it's FREE, bonanza!

Hi Uncle Black
I love The Pleasant Valley. Makes me think of Snape although it's not much of a valley. Hope you're good.

Really like the bass dominance in the pleasant valley – it’s unusual to hear a folky piece where the bass is so easy to pick up – and it really gives this piece a neat rich sound. Again with the duet – really nice. I can hear the Belle and Sebastian influence here. Did I mention I really like the bass in this piece? (I’m not a bass player, but my bass player is currently very underutilized in my songs... this inspires me to get a good bassline down for the next song I write!)

Hi there!

Hope everything’s fine.

I just made a cover of Eliott Smith called « I didn’t understand ».

If you have the time to come round and listen to it, I’d really appreciate your visit.

Greetings from France.

we sing
our heart-dreams
loudly into moonlit skies,
wishing upon flickers of light,
skipping our smooth hope-pebbles
along the wide ways of promise.

ripple, they do,
these echoed promises,
in thousands of shimmering circles
resonating our life’s expectancy

as we cast silken spun web-nets
trying to capture the elusive
understanding;

- – what it means
to be loved.
