We been rootin around in this mess since well before the turn of the century. We started where highway 61 begins and we ended up here in the Ozarks where we commenced to makin our own brand. Here in black draught holler the roosters aint the only ones bowlegged and the water is being turned into wine about twice as often as it’s goin the other way. Where else can you find a re-incarnated Uncle Dave Macon drivin the butane truck and ‘mama’ the world’s oldest chicken who is currently in the care of the greatest fiddler we know, banjo billy. Where else can you see long-leg kate shakin’ it with short-skirt sue, on a weekly basis. Last time we did, I looked over at old Peach about the time they got done, and he was sweatin so bad he looked hotter than a deep fried mule. Sure the Ozark Shakes’ll probably be the end of us soon enough, but uncle Wit knows somebody in franklin county that knows how to get rid of them. One time we were headed south to a show in texas. We hadn’t got too far out of black draught holler before we come up on this folk art site, comprised mostly of welded log chains and other ancient iron. Hundreds of these things- the links welded into place in such a manner as to construct words, like the giant rusty hand writing of some mythical billet logger. We had to stop and meet who ever this was and figure out what made them tic. Unfortunately, there weren’t hide nor hair of anybody around, so we poked around for a while with our mouths just swung open. Bout that time, we got that cemetery feelin and decided to get the hell out of there. Besides, we were in the middle of nowhere and about three miles west of hell as roy fulton always used to say. For several years now, we have merely been left to ponder the message -or- slogan if you will. A message that has, since that blessed day, caused us to truly appreciate the strange powers of the lord. TRUCKERS RED HOT FOR JESUS
