Who I'd like to meet: Sub-Atomic Particles
We’re the sub-atomic particles.
Our surfin’ turf is inner space.
Since our job is bein’ everywhere.
We can't be anyplace.
I’m so fast, I’m like a cloud
I’m away from here more than I am
I like to stay in perpetual motion
I’m a pilot don’t know how to land.
I ride with my brother photon
Eeee-lec-tro-magnetic waves
Around my cousin quark.
He's such a nuclear waste.
But the power of his huggin'
Other cousin quarks is bad.
You can use it for a bomb
Make dudes mad you trashed their pad.
I hop when I cop energy
To a higher key
Then in my mode, I explode
Little light guys right outa me.
I suck up a certain quanta
That creates guys for my gang.
It’s Sub-atomic magic
First there’s nothing, then , “ You rang?”
If you had better eyes,
You’d see all my light-wave ridin’ guys.
Infra-Red and X-ray Davey
Gamma-Ray and Micro-wavey
Dif-fernt vibes make dif-fernt guys,
A change of frequency is our disguise.
So without my boys, no show’s a go.
I control your television, also radio.
But I keep a look-out lookin’ out
For my rivals, Anti-matter.
Just a touch, annihilates us,
So you’ll excuse us if we scatter.
There ain’t a place we don’t show our face
Even blackholes know we’re badder.
We’re in the core of every star
Getting’ fatter, fatter, fatter.
My biggest boy, Gamma Ray,
Shorts out satellite switches and circuits.
X-Ray breaks up DNA
Makin’ tumors start, on purpose.
And Ultra-Vi likes to redden your hide
She just kills to be at your service.
Micro-wavey may heat your gravy
But there ain’t a way you humans can hurt us.
Neutrino is fragile, but still one like me.
I gotta be nice, he’s in my Lepton family.
Sometimes I combine in the nuclear hood.
He’s born when I die, but it’s all good.
In the Quantum world, one thing is another
I’m Electron, then Proton, then Photon, we’re brothers.
Down in a mine
They been tryin’ to find
A sign of a Neutrino traveling alone.
But Lepton’s have three houses
So they miss him when that homie’s home.
We’re the Sub-Atomic Particles
Creatures from deep inner space
Where nothing is certain but uncertainty
And what’s real is only a trace.
Where gravity can’t go
And the wind can’t blow
And distant particles somehow stay in touch.
Where there’s so lotsa nothing
The nothing will still loan you something
If you pay back before using it much.
Even Einstein’s mind
Couldn’t get behind
Bodies that just didn’t obey
Newton’s classical laws
Because
Particles may
Chose to, probably or not, behave.
We have a riot we call “chain reaction.”
I split one atom
Then two becomes four becomes eight.
And from their crowded quark quarters,
Quarks get a break
When their nucleus goes unstable
Leavin’ things hotter than Hell in their wake.
This weekend I went to a cyclotron.
I was part of a big ‘speriment.
You humans can’t know
Where I’m ‘bout to go
By keeping track of where I have bent.
My sub-atomic realm ain’t predictable.
It’s poetic, whimsical, art.
It’s not a science. It’s more like a play
Where each actor can ad lib his part.
We do what we choose
There’s no don’t and should does
I pull molecules together
Then bust ‘um up, no excuse.
I can fly down the wires
Or short out and start fires
And when you shuffle on rugs
I likes to shock yous.
I run motors around
Make speakers make sound
That’s why I’m found
In Sub-Atomic Who’s Who.
I drive your thought trains
All’ round your brains
So I gotta be smarter than you.
I don’t fall in love
Even tho by and large
I’m attracted to those of
The opposite charge.
But you humans combine
In your different ways
Then what all particles fear
Break-up and decay.
But for us quantum freaks,
Each one is unique,
One orbit, one spin, one weight.
If atoms can’t overlap
They can build all of your crap
Electrons even make-up
The surface of you
And keep your girl’s butt
From falling thru
When she up
And sits on your lap.
Let me apologize now for lightening.
But why go out when the weather’s so frightening?
Me and my guys
Must first equalize
Electrical charge in the skies
Then I’ll have time
To give all your loose nuts a tightening.
