At age 12 Jermaine Harbin fell in love with rap music and began writing rhymes. After years of performing for peers he recorded a few tracks on his own and co-wrote, recorded and performed with local artist Champtown. Moving to the next level Uncle ILL teamed up Hush to form Da Ruckus and record the album Quiet as Kept. The duo’s second album, Episode One, carried the hit track We Shine featuring Eminem, along with a second hot track We Came Here to Party featuring Dale. The album gained national media exposure in both The Source and Rolling Stone. Parting company with Hush to explore his individuality, Uncle ILL went solo and released a 7 track EP titled “The ILL Way” followed by his first full album. “Y’all know” included 14 cuts with an upbeat, street-style sound and sold more than 50,000 copies. Describing his style as “Not Will Smith clean but not Eminem dirty,” Uncle ILL’s music carries the spunk and energy that the “313” is known for breeding. The albums hit tracks Cho, Keep On, and Who’s Your Uncle received extensive radio play on the local FM dial. During Uncle ILL’s journey to super stardom he has shared the stage with superstars 50-Cent, Busta Rhymes, Breed, Ja Rule and Usher. A short collaboration with his former Da Ruckus partner Hush, now signed to Geffen Records, birthed the west coast theme song Shake the Ground (Put ‘em Down) for NBC’s reality show “The Contender”. Uncle ILL has since launched his own clothing brand ILL Gear, album “Rematch and is currently working on his latest release untitled. Recruited for several national product endorsements, Uncle ILL has represented brands such as INK Authentic Apparel, Better Made Potato Chips and Georgievskaya Vodka.
