Sounds Like
“Having been together for such a short space of time, the band have crafted an exciting, fresh brand of melodic indie – and although I’m loathe to say “catchy” – it’s a beguiling slice of rock-pop. The live aspect of the band is captivating and sharp with a startlingly authoritive vocal accompanied by the splendid all round sound of Uncle Monty. If for some mad, mentally incapacitating reason you turn your nose up at this band then you really are devoid of all heart and soul.” NARC
“Powerful melodic pop songs and immense choruses, midway between The Shins, The La’s and Wilco “ THE GEN
“Uncle Monty have a scrumptious ability to carve out a stunning melody and expand it into a rocking pop gem. Powerful & brash vocals combine with chiming and rhythmic guitars to form a tight unit of musical solidity and composition, you can’t really fault a band who’s arrangements flow so well.” SHAM!
“Monty’s front man could punch steel with his late era-Cooper Temple Clause meets Zutons tones. The songs are strong – melody strewn, overdriven, lolloping hounds of pop – but it is that voice that just hauls them up to a higher ledge.” NARC
“Uncle Monty create an impressive sound incorporating fun melodies with a sharp edge of psychedelic rock worthy of the likes of The Coral.” THE EVENING CHRONICLE
"With their National influenced arrangements, Uncle Monty are currently flying the flag for melody in the North East and they open tonight looking & sounding like they belong on this bigger stage. They manage to impress a room full of new faces & their love for a tune recalls the emergence of The Coral, albeit with better dress sense." NARC
aye - nearly as good as the other pic off years ago.....how did kev put it..........yuria heap!! - what time you on on sunday - might get down for it? m x
Awesome Color is a power trio updated for the 2060's, noise provocateurs and impressionists, ace players with punk rock flair, inspired citizens of a small modernist nation of musical, visual, and literary outrage on the outskirts of Brooklyn, or a rainbow amalgam of all of the above at once.
Having recently played gigs supporting IGGY AND THE STOOGES, an upcoming tour with DINOSAUR JR. and plans for a second album on ECSATIC PEACE imminent (the label owned and run by SONIC YOUTH's Thurston Moore), 2008 promises to be a banner year for New York City's mightiest and most inspired rock band. The fix is in!!
