Teresa Kolo is a performing songwriter
who embraces her art with wit and optimism.
Her guitar style is strong and percussive
and lays the foundation for her primary
tool - songwriting. Locally, Teresa has
headlined at some of Houston’s most
important music venues including
McGonigel's Mucky Duck and historic
Anderson Fair. Her television
appearances include Weekday
(Formerly Weeknight Edition),
and Texas Parks and Wildlife's
broadcast of Spaceship Earth;
the Water Planet. She has been
nominated by the Houston Press
for folk musician of the year.
"Teresa Kolo's music melds the personal,
the political, and the poetic. Fools are
barely suffered, and the biggest cardinal sin
in her universe is complacency...for herself
and her audience."
-- Jeffrey Thames of KPFT
(Houston's Pacifica Station).
“…I can't overemphasize how excited we
are that Teresa has returned to performing.
Her warm and fuzzie but in your face
quirkiness is heart-tugging and jaw dropping.
--Tom Yeager
(Songbird Sanctuary)
“In a cookie cutter world of formulated music,
Teresa Kolo is an inspiration and a standout.
Her songs are tough, vulnerable, funny and
poignant…sung in that voice truly unlike any
I’ve heard before, young and old at once and
haunting in it’s beauty”.
